The first post I read after registering and it gives me all the answers I was looking for! Thank you darkhelmet!

The search goes on for matching Joomla/SMF templates!

Again I have to give props to the developer for great programming skills - thank you.

A warning to anyone considering using this tool, and this is due to no fault of joomservices; Fireboard is not mature enough to move from SMF if you need restriction policies.

We run client-based services and were desperately seeking a 'bridged' solution for Joomla. For several months we have tried different Fireboard hacks to restrict clients to their own boards without success. Fireboard is not a viable solution if you need to keep boards invisible from members.

For whatever reason the Fireboard developers decided it was more important to put out a half-baked solution while propping-up this Web site with advertising instead of creating a solid core that was sustainable for any length of time. Without the ability to restrict members from sections they have no reason to view, Fireboard is no better than 99.9% of the other forum software already at mature versions.

My suggestion; keep SMF, unbridged or try the JoomlaHacks solution albeit unsupported. Wait several months and come back here to see if Fireboard has reached the level of sophistication that supports basic restriction policies.

For group access in an integrated forum without third party extensions this might have what you may be looking for.

i think it will be interesting to have another one for phhpbb :
there is one working but not with a real support.

and the most fabulous idea is to have another one script for switching back From Fireboard to SMF (or Phpbb).

and why not working with the official team of those two another famous board !?
Re:SMF to fireboard converter was released today by joomservices05 May 08 23:38

No one seems to be giving information about what happens if you are using a bridge, will current users be overwritten with new ones? has anyone tried this?

Thanks
Re:SMF to fireboard converter was released today by joomservices24 May 08 23:22
Hi
We can confirm that if you are using a brige, the users will not be overwritten . Here are how the component works when migration users :
+ If SMF user existed in joomla, do nothing
+ If SMF user haven't existed yet, he/she will be added as joomla user .

We use username for checking users existed or not in joomla .

Re:SMF to fireboard converter was released today by joomservices24 May 08 23:42
Hi
You should wait for the 1.0.4 version which will be the final version of the component . In this version we will fix some small bugs from previous versions and add a new feature : convert private messages . This version will be released 2 days later .

Hi,

I tried registration to joomservices.com but never received your confirmation mail. Also errors still appear on your site for buy extensions.

Is there another way I can purchase the pro version from you?

I need to start porting this week.
Re:SMF to fireboard converter was released today by bit23 Jun 08 19:13
hmm, so instead of releasing the next version which included bug fixes for free as you did with the previous versions you are asking for money for the latest one? Don't get me wrong, i am happy to pay for money for a component or utility, but when it comes from free and buggy to "pay us for the next one" then am thinking you guys are getting a bit cheeky with the way you are going about this.
Re:SMF to fireboard converter was released today by Sean Wheller23 Jun 08 19:18
Yes it would not be right to ask clients to pay for bug fixes if they already bought it, but now I cannot even get any response from these guys and am seriously doubting when I should even buy from them. Their site as many technical problems.

Has anyone purchased from them?
Re:SMF to fireboard converter was released today by maggix24 Jun 08 22:00
I purchased from them, but I had no answer. Tried to register to the website/forum, but never received any confirmation email.
I sent an email to the address provided, and the answer was that they are moving their website and they should solve their problem soon.

This was last week, I hope they'll be able to answer me soon since development for my website is stuck due to this problem.

Regards

Giovanni

Thanks for the response.

Seems that this kind of problem is starting to become common place in the OSS community. It really should not be that hard to move a Joomla site between hosts and most certainly not take a week. I wonder if anyone has purchased their pro version with success and can comment on the results of using it to convert SMF.

While on this subject. Perhaps somebody else has a solution on offer. If so I am happy to take take a look at it.
Re:SMF to fireboard converter was released today by bit25 Jun 08 00:03
how can this be a pro version if they so clearly told me to wait for the next release which will be 1.0.4, without even saying i would need to pay. Now what it seems is that they left some bugs or whatever on purpose, trying to pull a quick one. They are not even advertising it as a pro version. This is unethical and they are simply trying to make a quick buck.

Unless am getting it wrong and the previous version works just fine.
