The Username and / or Passwords aren't working for me.
I am interested in a download, too.

Mc

P.S. Nothing seems to function on the Joomunity.org Website, no news, links that should be links are png's without a link etc., nothing is implemented on that site. Work seems to be in progress and that's not a final website implementation.
Re:Test drive joomunity and tell us what you think by kingbt31 Jan 08 14:33
Worked 4 M. I didn`t expected that JOOMUNITY would by so advanced. I think that it would be a replacement 4 COMUNITY BUILDER. Very simple 2 use, very fast, NICE. Very good job.
Re:Test drive joomunity and tell us what you think by McRollo31 Jan 08 14:37
The preview picture looks great, sure. I've bookmarked that page for later. Hope there will be a download in the future, for a test on one of my productive sites that I've implemented.

Very Nice.. So When Can We download this?
Re:Test drive joomunity and tell us what you think by Sven31 Jan 08 16:21
it would be nice to know if this is going to be an option to Comm Builder
Re:Test drive joomunity and tell us what you think by Marc A. Ross31 Jan 08 16:49
Has nothing to DO with Community Builder. It will be a competing component. I look forward to something a little more stylish.

No mention made of future integration with other components. Although I only gave the site a cursory glance.
Re:Test drive joomunity and tell us what you think by Livingstone Fultang31 Jan 08 17:34
@JerryLeeLewis :
Not an Option but and Alternative, its is not just going to be a Community Building social component, but with further developement a link between social networkiing and Joomla, with plans of bridging with other SN like FB, MS, Orkurt using googles Opensocial (Well just thinking loud, still far from Opensocial now)

@Nanaya:
Not yet availaible for download, but will be in the nearest furture! with you testing the demo now, give me alot of information about functionality and i am tweaking things. both functionaly and security wise, so when you grab this component, youll take to your heels (lol). Also working on documentation, its always easy this way i guess! My deadline for release was to be today(lol), but with valentines day coming and things not going so well as planned, (i wasted a whole week helping some one out }, and my time killing me, it will definately be a great val present for joomla if things stick to plans

@Grumblemarc:
I knew you were all going to be fooled but joomunities logicc. Truely speaking, its just a bridge of components. Though some of its key aspects are components in themselve, others make use of other components, Like the photo gallery your seeing on there is RS2 Gallery revisited! and you must have use RS2 gallery to manage your picture! The Messaging is uses joomla core messaging table, but not com_messages, blog is com_mamblog(although you dont need this to have the blogs, cause mamblog in itself uses jos_content tables) The events, is a joomla component, the Joomleague controller will use com_joomleague, and so on, my plan is to make as many controllers as there are components, so user can manage everything from their profile! i have not yet thought about FB yet as forum option, but surely with the big discussion round joomla and message board intergration, i will prefer to release and wait for community feedback. The group controller is not yet ready because i am writing a stand alond component for that! will be something like group jive, but more into facebook logic.

Yes the competition will be on, with CB, just left to see who survives (lol) na, its just for fun really, its always good to have another community software! cant b

@Everyone else
Sorry if your getting too impatitient or fustrated with deadlinks or login credentials not working, but thank you for ptaking the time to check it out, but you just being on there, enables me to check a few things and solve them as early as now, so you get an awesome and robust community software on first release

Thanks for your time
Re:Test drive joomunity and tell us what you think by Marc A. Ross31 Jan 08 18:08
Yes. I was fooled!
Re:Test drive joomunity and tell us what you think by Sven31 Jan 08 18:10
Thanks for your work

i wait here for news
Re:Test drive joomunity and tell us what you think by nanaya31 Jan 08 21:16
I think Fireboard Forum Will be the best for this. It will be great for me cause I wouldn't have to change another Forum. Good Work though. Hope to see great improvements.
Re:Test drive joomunity and tell us what you think by Hazzaa31 Jan 08 21:58
I'm playing the devils advocate here. I just came from the site and was very disappointed. I couldn't find the overall functionality, the "Introduction" was a two liner. I either couldn't find the feature list or there is none. As for needing to be a member to have buddies, well these features can be set up in CB.

AM I Missing something?

***EDIT***

Sorry, MODS GM Someone, I hit back by accident and got a double post. Can someone delete this please and thank you.
Re:Test drive joomunity and tell us what you think by Marc A. Ross31 Jan 08 22:07
Sorry Hazaa, I don't mod this section.

I didn't explore the offering as I should have. Possibly I'll go back and do that. Hopefully this isn't some attempt to mimic *cough* MySpace.
Re:Test drive joomunity and tell us what you think by Hazzaa31 Jan 08 22:19
I went through EVERY page on the site,
Introduction:
JOOMUNITY is a multipurpose community building component for joomla, with lots of features from simple profiling to events manager, forums, blogs, mailing and lots more which run as min-applications.
This section provides a quick reference to get you rolling with joomunity
Installation:
Basic Joomla installation guide.
Using Joomunity:
you wouldnt believe how easy joomunity fits to your current joomla install, and simplifies day to day functionality for dummies like me! where do we start?
Customizing Joomunity:
While striving to provide with the most accurate and best fit solution for your need, there is always room for modifications, this simple tips will enable you make joomunity your 'personal property'!
Developers Reference:
Testing introduction

Is this the entire site? Sorry but I'm not impressed. I logged in and not much more to see there.
Sorry but if you want to Impress ME, give me some information. As the developer has stated, this is a bunch of components hacked and bridged into one.
There is a community component that is in the works and in Beta testing now that WILL set the NEW STANDARDS for Joomla communities (IMO). And best of all the developers use FB as their own forum so I think it will work quite nicely with what we all use.
Re:Test drive joomunity and tell us what you think by Livingstone Fultang01 Feb 08 00:01
Hey Hazaa u shud have read my previous.

The demo is not up to impress, but to serve as demo and thats how its called! That is just a random site, the documentation is not ready cause i am still writing it! and infact if you had gone through all of the site you would have found a feature lists! But any way thanks for checking,

I guess if i had released this component now, you will be furious! yes thats why in my previous post, i appreciated your patience! but anyway thanks for checking,

About being a Hack! Joomunity is no hack! and no bridge!
Just like comunity builder, you have tabs for certain components, in exactly the same way you have profile application for components, The code is entirely re-written, and idependent of any components code. What i meant by using RS2 Gallery is that, the photos a user upload to his RS2 Gallery is the same pictures he will see on this profile with joomunity and thats it! and the pictures you upload with joomunity if you like it are stored in RS2 gallery!

Well no much ado, this is precious time, and will leave ya!
Enjoy!
Re:Test drive joomunity and tell us what you think by Marc A. Ross01 Feb 08 00:02
I guess this being a Pre-Alpha it's pretty much a proof-of-concept offering at this stage.
Re:Test drive joomunity and tell us what you think by Hazzaa01 Feb 08 00:20
If there is a page with a feature list, I'm sorry I did not see it. Could/would you please supply a link?

As for hack and bridges, I was going off of what you posted

If I am misunderstanding, then again I apologize and eat my words.

Could/would you please try to re-explain/clarify this statement so that I could understand your meaning.

Thank you for your time.
Re:Test drive joomunity and tell us what you think by kingbt01 Feb 08 00:48
I think JOOMUNITY is great, needs NO documentation, but it would be greater if it could support plugins like UDDEIM etc, and "compatibility" with FIRE MESSAGE & FIRE BOARD would be nice. Once again great work.
Re:Test drive joomunity and tell us what you think by Stian Didriksen01 Feb 08 01:07
I think that this could be a truly great component.

But there are several issues though.

First, for those who have a lot of users, and run a site that's ben online for a couple of months, need ceveral import functions.

My site (for example) uses GroupJive for groups, uddeIM for PM, Fireboard, CB with NinJoomla extensions (jSpaces), MyBlog and jAwards.

1. Will my users have to rebuild their friends-network?

2. Must each and every Group have to be rebuilt?

3. aso...

You get the picture. But don't get me wrong, I have great faith in your project and like it's features and ambitions. I'm just a bit concerned about the migration scenario.

If yo could make this scenario painless, I wouldn't be the only one who would gladly pay for such an interesting component.

Keep up the great work.

Yeah right. And the first time something breaks you and everyone else will be the first screaming "Where's the documentation?".
Re:Test drive joomunity and tell us what you think by dave smith01 Feb 08 03:13
Will defiantly use this when it comes out also is this being developed for joomla 1.5 or 1.X.X.
Re:Test drive joomunity and tell us what you think by TJ11 Feb 08 22:16
Will members be able to add favorite articles or banners (in the case of shopping sites) to their personal page? I'm building a shopping site where registered users can have a personal page and add their favorite stores and a favorite charity to it (might be articles, might be banners) and have a place to add notes.

Will I be able to do this with Joomunity? I sure hope so. It doesn't have to be fancy, a simple link will work. I haven't found anything close yet. I'm using 1.5.

This looks fantastic so far. Please let us know when we can see more. Thank you!!!

very intrigued. look forward to trying this out in my community

Looks good. It would need to be a major improvement over CB for me to consider switching.
Re:Test drive joomunity and tell us what you think by Sven14 Feb 08 14:19
something new for testing

Re:Test drive joomunity and tell us what you think by Andy13 Mar 08 22:11
Looks good a bit of competition to cb is needed. I have a modified version of CB working that will allow you to create any style of profile you like. I will be launching the site within the next the couple of weeks with the modified cb files as a free download. If you know a bit of html and css you can make cb look like any of the major social networking sites.

p.s im no way affiliated with joomlapolis and they do not support or have any interest in what im using! When asked about why cb is so ugly they just shrug you off. So i done something about it!
