The News - New Template from GavickPro by John06 Feb 08 18:52
My main criticism with this template is similar to a problem I find in many templates.
When one tries to print a PDF version of an article:
  • The image on the page doesn't get sent to the PDF
  • The beginnings of paragraphs are haphazardly indented (sometimes there's an indent space, sometimes not).
  • In this template even the writer's name gets indented in the PDF making for a very unprofessional looking printout.

I'm also concerned with the flow of story order. In the demo, the same lead story "How the Bugatti Veyron Works" appears nine different places. I know as the site is built out and more copy is added I assume it won't appear as repetitive, but while the design looks good, the functionality I fear...as a potential customer looking for a new template...is limited.

I don't think PDF creation has anything to do with the template used (as far as I know). And to gripe about how many times demo copy appears in a demo template seems kind of ridiculous.

The template looks pretty solid. Simple and elegant.

As for how many times a story appears, IT'S A DEMO SITE. People don't/shouldn't have to spend 6 months setting up a demo site.
PDF: This is JOOMLA functionality, you can make this better by getting this http://extensions.joomla.org/component/o...k_id,2226/Itemid,35/

As I explained in a previous post, TEMPLATES DO NOT FUNCTION, they display. They are a graphical interface or rather are supposed to be a graphical interface (some template designers have tried to put functionality into the template and this usually creates more problem than worth)
