The bashing is not welcome. Simply report that the component n longer works and take up your customer service issues with the developers of the product-not here on the forums.

Hazzaa, this did happen on a live site and it was a real bummer. Since Serr.biz did not have a real solution to this issue other than paying them more $$ I decided to install sh404SEF and it is working better than SerrBizSEF, so in the end this hassle has made my site better, but I am still really disappointed in Serr.biz not wanting to refund me for a component that they admit does not work.

You both have VERY valid explanations and as for a refund, this would all depend on the terms of service from the developer. I know as for myself, and I'm certain many others make a purchase and agree to terms and conditions without reading. I'm not going to read theirs nor give an opinion on the matter. I am on a Windows server and have found a fabulous filter that works for all programs, all extensions, and all file types. By this I mean it will accomplish the SEF for any and ALL components I install on Joomla as well as working for .asp, .aspx, .php, and anything else I add to a site.
It is also compatible with J1.0.X as well as J1.5. The best thing about it is that it's free.
It also works as a mod_rewrite for site and link redirection.
In my opnion, and this has NOTHING to do with your contract and agreement with the developers, is that if someone is going to sell a product, they need to upgrade ASAP. As a purchaser, you need to give the developer time to update. FB nor any other component developer DOES NOT GIVE NOTICE to other extension developers that a new version is being released thus the developer creating extensions for other components does not have nor know what to do ahead of time.

In final, IMHO (in MY humble opinion) you are both right and are both wrong.

I went to the forum of the developer and read this subject and discussion, I take back all liability of the developer. There is NO WAY they could have known FB was to make a new release two days after they released their update. Updates can and WILL take weeks to months to be released.
As a buyer, you need to use a component what you purchased a it for. As for FB, I would not buy ANY extensions for, considering the speed of development, fixes, bugs, new releases. I have been using Fb for about 4-5 months and have upgraded 5 times in the same time period.

I think that they have EVERY intention of "fixing" it. But it will be when time permits. Not to your schedule unfortunately.

The deal is this. We made the rule for an previous version of Fireboard. They just released the new version. We are busy with other projects and Joomla 1.5 items. If customer wants a new custom rule created ASAP, then OK, they can order it. We estimate 2-4 hours. If customer doesn't want to pay for a custom rule, then they can wait untill we have time to update, or roll back to Fireboard 1.0.3 Stable.

We do intend to update as time permits. But, this is a side project and does NOT pay the bills.

As for a short term solution for this issue here are the FREE options:

1) Role back to the previous version the rule was written for.
2) REMOVE the SEF RULE from the rules folder in administrator > components > com_serrbizsef > serrbizsef_sef_rules > serrbizsef_com_fireboard.dat. This will cause the default Joomla SEFS to take over.
