DiscussBot w/ JEvents-Am I seriously the only one? 11 Months, 4 Weeks ago
I love discuss bot, especially the new ObjectClarity one, with the "Quick Post" and comments displaying right in the content, but why doesn't it work w/ JEvents? I can't be the only person who wants this..can I?

The older version (XTD 1.1 i believe) works fine w/ JEvents, if you figure out what your CAT ID's are for it. (small glitch of displaying the link ABOVE the "Location" and "Contact" field, but that's a tiny issue)

The new oject clarity one doesn't work AT ALL with JEvents. Not if you manually input your cat id, not if you set it for all content..nothing. Why?

Come on people, think about it... "Wow, that was an awesome event, lemme post about it. well look here, there's comments right in the event...awesome!" or "I can't make it, but can my brother come in my place? i'll just ask right here in the comments"

It makes PERFECT sense for those of us that dont need a full fledged registration, or attendance for our events.

I'm just using it for a WoW Guild site, and JEvents is running our calendar and I just want a casual forum made for any events and news articles. DiscussBot does this great, but not with the quick post and all that. HELP ME OUT!

guess it's not that easy to get a reply. I stand corrected.

Send me the bot you're using that 'does' handle jevents... I'd be interested to see what it's doing.

It's just the XTD version found right in this forum. However, i spoke a little too soon. while it does add itself to the Event content so you can attempt to make a new post, it messes up on grabbing the subject (since there isn't one, obviously) so you are not able to make the post (since there is no subject, and you can't manually add one, because discussbot disables the field)

Make sense?

Again, it was just the XTD version found right in this forum. Thanks for any help. I'm really desperate for this function, and I think it would make discussbot the hands down, bar non best addon/plugin you could get for fireboard

Thank you again

I wandered into it making changes here and there to accommodate but when it came down to duplicating JEvents functionality to build the URL from the first post back to the event, I stopped. It's too much custom code to put into a component that is not dedicated to integrating any one component. It can be done but I'm not inclined to make it part of the bot going forward.
