"No comments" but comments exist! 6 Months, 4 Weeks ago
Today, suddenly, and with nothing happening to the server I'm aware of (I'm administering it) dicussbot has stopped reporting the number of comments on articles.

I've a add a quick post, it's entered into the discussion group, has a subject, links back to the article, but if you view the article it reports "No comments."

I thought it may be because there was an apostrophe in the title so I removed that--but still no love.

Sorry. Nothing "just happens". Did you update any other extensions? Make ANY changes whatsoever to another component? Try reinstalling??

I know. That's why I'm confused. You'll have to trust me on this.

But, guess what! It just as mysteriously has started working! The article in question is here. I just went back to it to confirm and I noticed at the top:

[FBDISCUSSBOT DEBUG:Searching for {mos_fb_discuss:#} tag in article text... Found one! ][FBDISCUSSBOT DEBUG:Found the FB threadId in the cross reference table(#__fb_discussbot). ][FBDISCUSSBOT DEBUG:Counted 1 posts in this thread. ][FBDISCUSSBOT DEBUG:Showing First posts in the thread in Ascending order. ]

Looks like it's in debug mode.

I put it into debug mode 'cause I was trying to figure out why it wasn't finding the comments. Now that I've taken it out of debug mode the messages are still appearing. Again, I'm wondering if PHP or someone isn't refreshing their cache...

Anyway, the problem seems to have disappeared for now, and is merely flaky.

Were you somewhere that may be using caching between you and your webserver? I've had that before trying to use CPanel from a client site where stale pages were cached by the internet provider. It gets very frustrating. When I checked from another internet connection it was working properly again.

There are no external dependencies in the code so if it stops working there would probably be other stuff on your site that's stopped working as well.

Glad to hear it's back though...
