Displaying comments on the front page 4 Months, 1 Week ago
Discussbot 1.07 and joomla 1.5 RC4
Hi,
First, thanks for this very useful plugin which avoids to add components such as Mxcomment and allows a clever way to publish comments.

I have two questions :

1 - I have a the discussbot link on the first page but the comments aren't visible on the front page. And I'd like them to be displayed also on the front page! Any possible hack?

2 - Each article on the site is in a frame, surrounding the article. I include the bot within this frame but the link to the fireboard is always displayed outside of the frame. How can I change this to have the link, as well as the comments within the frame?

Thanks for your answers. Bye

Currently there is not a hack to display comments on the front page. It's hard to make them fit especially when displaying articles in the multi-column format so I left it out.

Why the frames on your site? It would require editing each generated link to target the frame instead of the top level window. Would require some javascript code to do it, I think.

Hi,
First, thanks for your answers.
I will make it on the first page without the comments being displayed.

Concerning the "frame" perhaps my short explanation was not clear : I use for articles a template which consists in a border (the so called "frame"surrounding each article.

And I wish that the link (on the first page) to the posts (forum) to be within this surrounding border! Hope it is clearer!

By the way, I am trying to modify the padding/color of .fbdb-front-page and .fbdb-full-page in the fbdiscussbot.css but without any result!!!!
Wrong syntax but I can't find the right one!

<span class="fbdb-front-page"><br><span class="fbdb-full-page"><a href="www.xxaaaxxx.com/extranet/index.ph?optio...fr">Discutez de ceci sur le forum. (2 posts)</a></span></span><br><br>

Last point : it would very nice to have the choice to choose what to display on the module. On my side, I would like to display only the article title and the date....

Anyway, thanks again for your great work.
Bye

Hi again,
Sorry for the "

I probably need some rest....
Of course, it is on the latestnews module.... Not on your plugin.

I was wondering what module you were talking about.

As for editing the CSS, get the Firefox extension called "WebDeveloper 1.1.6". It's the best way to troubleshoot CSS and lets you edit CSS in-page so that you can see how your changes will be applied.

You may be able to move the bot around a bit with CSS but getting it to consistently appear within your article border/frame thing may prove difficult. I've typically see it moved left to right or moved up a bit. I guess it depends how your border has been created.

Good luck!
