After having installed and played with the Mambo badowrds filter for a day or two, I quickly came to the relazation that while the basic idea is great the way it was implemented did not fit my needs. In particualr I was surprised to see that an entire post got "censored" for s single bad word. It actually uses that exact term "Censored by Admin...".
You can imaging that multiple users of my early board are having an issue with that.

I looked at the code and the solve seems fairly simple:

Instead of making a binary decision whether to show the post or not, it should have the option to ****** out bad words but leave the rest of the post as is. As soon as I get back to my dev environment I will give it a try later tonight. It sure seems like an easy mod.

I like the way you think! In other "forum" scripts I've played with, the badword filter allowed you to set replacement rules. In other words, you could type in the naughty word (or wildcard equivalencies) in the "filter" and then the replacement word in the "replace with" field. Worked a treat and some admin came up with some really clever replacement text that had us all howling in laughter.

And there is a hack on this forum somewhere on how to change the Fireboard code to be compatible with Badwords2. Search for it. I have heard it works pretty well.
