Been running joomlaboard for as long as i have run my site, upgraded only yesterday to fireboard, added seo and redirection from old board to new, and support for missis pms (by the way works great according to copy developers say is going to be in new version). What i like most about this forum system is that it does not interfear with sessions etc, as smf bridge / component do, or have a need to modify any joomla files, with what i am seeing at the moment with membergroups comming in, this will be the forum to use. I will definately be promoting this forum on my site as the choice version to use, specifically for those running other bridged apps (as seen with the oscommerce and smf bridge, they cause each other grief).
You can see the result of a simple install and upgrade from joomlaboard with over 3000 members, over 2000 messages, catagories and even hidden / locked forums that all carried across

You will have many people's prayers after you

As requested:
1) switched joomlaboard into maintenance mode (admin configuration)
2) Installed the fireboard component (nice and easy)
3) entered the admin for fireboard, clicked the upgrade from joomlaboard button
4) Configured the forum to my old settings
5) Installed mambot, posted elsewhere in this forum to redirect hardcoded links to joomlaboard to rather display fireboard
6) Modified the sef rules for joomlaboard to rather work with fireboard, also uploaded elswhere in the forum.
7) unpublished old forum put link to new forum, altered stylesheet slightly for colour,
Done.
Yes it is as easy as that, which is why i am supporting and recommending this forum.

While SMF offers a lot of capabilities and features, there is a lot to be desired with compatability and ease of use. I'm glad to see you've had success with forum migration.

One thing that seems to be still lacking from the days of joomlaboard, global moderators. ie specific users, that you do not want to be admins, i would like to see a setting that allows them to moderate all forums.
