Anonymous posts by registered users? 1 Year, 5 Months ago
I would like to allow anonymous posts by registered users.

In Joomlabord it is possible to allow name change but it leaves signatures and avatars and so on so other users can still see who made the post.

By using this mod -> www.phpbb.com/community/viewtopic.php?f=...=t&sd=a#p2057964 on my Phpbb forum I can allow my registered users to choose whether they want their post to be anonymous or not.

Could something similar be done in Fireboard?

Anyone done this with Fireboard?
I´m willing to pay for this hack if anyone can help me,

Description:
-------------
I would like to allow anonymous posts by registered users in Fireboard 1.0.4.

Meaning my registered users would be able to choose if they want their post to be anonymous or not when posting (post like guest/visistor) in forums for registered users.

If the registered user choose the anonymous option it will look like a guest post, no avatar no signature no link to profile.

I am using Community Builder so I don’t want the anonymous post to show up on the forum tab or in the total post count in the cb profile.
-------------

Moderators, if this not allowed forum behavior please let me know.

I too would be interested in this functionality and willing to support its development.

Again this would be to allow registered users to post, what appears to other users, to be an anonymous entry into a forum. Thus they could ask questions that might otherwise allow inference into a problem they are having, etc. when asking for advice.

It would be good if the module / feature allowed the administrator to set if anonymous posting is the default. Thus there would be some engineering around avoiding mistakes of posting with their real information.

Heck, I would settle for a flag on a topic container that stated all posts in the room were now anonymous but required registration.

Anyone... anyone... Bueller?

I am going to add myself to the list of people who want this. Sometimes our users want to post to certain areas anonymously. Our forums have a wide variety of topic areas, sometimes people feel more comfortable posting anonymously, even if they are registered users.

We want this function! If anyone wants to pool a little $$, I'm in.

well what we have worked out is...

you can set it so that any member of the forum/joomla can go into their profile and set it to Anonymous!

It's not maybe as clickabutton as I would like as you need to explain it but it works

Easy solution for what You guys are looking for, when a user posts it will enable them to select whether their post is annon or not through a simple check box, after posting the message will be set to visitor and the name will appear as anon.

Iv uploaded the file below

Use FTP, or file manager to overwrite the files , 1.0.5 rc is the version i used for this hack

Hi blakey87,

I've uploaded the files but I don't see any difference, is there a setting somewhere to allow anon postings?

When you write a reply there should be a check box
