SMF to FB, Smf and Joomla in different database 1 Year, 3 Months ago
Hi

I would like to change my forum from SMF to FB but the problem is, i have installed SMF and Joomla in different databases and i haven't bridged both Joomla and SMF . Can you please guide me in changing my forum from SMF to FB?

Any url to the "help topic" about this will also help me a lot!

Thanks
Anto

Anto,

would you tell me why you are going to switch to FB? Are you unsatisfied with SMF in any way?

Thanks!

Anto, unfortunately there seems to be little in the way of a working "out of the box" converter for SMF to FB. I too am in the same position and after trying to get the SMFtoFB converter working I have tried danialt's com_smftofb which again is not working.

I think if you are unsure of what you can do to make this work then fireboard is not for you - it is a beta and is very much behaving like a beta, unfortunately for this project support seems non-existant.

sorry I cannot be more positive

Dear Roaster

Actually i want just one login for forum and the joomla (With Cthat's why i'm migrating to FB. Again SMF has changed it's GPI rules, so i'm afraid in future there won't be any support for Joomla + SMF users.

My page is here: hikanyakumari.com

Do u have any idea for this migration????

HI bunglehaze, Did you tried SMF >> Joomlaboard >> FB convertion?

I'm ready to try that but i want to make sure that the conversion work even if the joomla and SMF databases are different?

Thanks
Anto

Unfortunately I do not have to migrate from SMF to FB. I would like to start from zero with FB, if only some of the most annoying bugs would be fixed. So I'm just waiting, using 1.02RC2 with some bugs fixed by my own and from the community.
However some features are still missing (like better preview, official group support, better handling of attachments and more), see Wishlist forum and various bug reports, to really start off.

Anyway I don't care of a single login (Joomla and FB ) since I do not need it this very moment.

Good luck and thanks for answering!

@ Roaster

Are you saying that i shd stick to SMF rather than moving to FB?
If so, How should i integrate SMF and Joomla which were installed in two databases?
