Registering on the forum 1 Year, 8 Months ago

I installed the new Fireboard forum a couple of days ago and all my existing members are able to use it. However, I did notice today that I had members on the forum that were not showing up on joomla. I logged off and noticed that not only could I register on joomla, I could also register on the forum. Does this mean that if someone registers on the forum, they won't be a member of the entire website, only the forum? On the other hand, if someone registers on joomla, they can automatically use Fireboard forum?

As Fireboard is a native Joomla component, it uses the Joomla registration process, so both who registers on your site can write to the forum and who registers for the forum is also the member of the site. The piquancy of the affair is that those users are added to the Fireboard User Administrator who visit the forum. So, Fireboard separately manages its user list.
You yourself can make sure:
1. Register with a new user name on your site, DO NOT visit the forum with this user name.
2. Log in to Joomla! Administrator and check this user name in Site / User Manager. You should find it.
3. Now go to Components / Fireboard forum and click User Administration quick icon in the Fireboard Control Panel. Search for this user name. You should have NOT found it.
4. Now turn back to the frontend and visit the forum. Browse the categories.
5. Come back to the Fireboard User Administrator in the Joomla backend. Now you should find this user name in the fireboard User Profile Manager.
It's a very very smart system because this way the actual online users are displayed in the forum.

Can someone please confirm if registering vis the forum uses the Joomla registration (=bad) or the CB registration process, when linked to CB. This could be a big issue for me; and I cannot get to a test site until the weekend to try it
Thanks,
Gareth

Indeed, it uses the Joomla registration even if linked to CB. I have the same problem and I need to know how to change the "register" link in FireBoard header.

To be honest... The only option I need is to turn off registration from the forums. I'm setting up a site with no acces to registering before the visitor has applied. They can visit the site, read and write in the public forums, but they should not be able to register anywhere. Have I completely gone blind? Or is there nowhere to turn it off? I can without problems remove it, but I'm a fan of userfriendlyness
