The case of the disappearing category's 1 Year, 6 Months ago

Hello,
I started to create category's and three times I have had all or some of the created category's disappear! I have never seen anything like this. Now I am not totally new to forums, I have been running a SMF forum for over a year, so I know that I have not "accidently" hit a wrong button.
The last time I created a category, then created two subs, then another category and after saving noticed that the first category and subs were gone.
