Re:How soon will a stable 1.0.2 be released? 1 Year, 3 Months ago
If I were in the developers shoes I would ignore you and anyone else that persists on asking "are we there yet?". It will be ready when it's ready and not before. It gets pretty annoying as well when you come to the forum and every 4th post someone is asking the same question. It makes people sound like impatient children. Considering I've seen some 3rd party components YEARS in development I think the BOJ team is making excellent progress.

This is your first post and you come out with a statement like the above ?
So what if it's his first post? he makes a valid point.

Do you appreciate that the guys are doing this in their spare time ? Do you know that at least one of them is doing his Ph D ? Now that you do, which should he give priority to ?
I think we all appreciate that they do this in their spare time. I also appreciate that they want all of us to use the component - I'm sure they will place a nice backlink to this site in the component. So, if they say it will be released on this-or-that date and it doesn't get released, they should post the reason and inform the potential users about what is going on.

Yes, it might be mildly annoying that the timetable hasn't been met - but attitudes like yours are the very ones which might cause lesser folk to walk away from the project. Thankfully, the developers are bigger than that.
I'm thinking, how many people will walk away on the user side because the dev team apparently doesn't take them seriously? Anybody can write a few lines every week to let us know what it going on - especially someone who is doing his Ph D...
Re:How soon will a stable 1.0.2 be released? 1 Year, 3 Months ago
Well from what I observe there are plenty of people that will use/are using, the component. For every 1 person that posts here there are probably 10 or more that are just lurking in the shadows unseen and unheard. Even if every single person posting to this forum on a regular basis "walked away" the devs would STILL have a successful product on their hands. Hell they have one right now. Just because a few cannot wait patiently and believe that the devs should be required to update their "fans" every time they sneeze does not make it so. What happens if they give a release date and something happens to push it back again? Are you going to cry "foul" because they couldn't keep their promises? Who walked away when that happened? NO ONE. You all stayed right here. I think it was a mistake for the devs to even publish a roadmap so soon in the game.
Re:How soon will a stable 1.0.2 be released? 1 Year, 3 Months ago
If you have aproblem with people asking what's going on, then why don't you support the wish for an update once in a while? It doesn't make any sense not to keep users informed - it's just bad manners... Every thread and every post that is asking "when?" is essentially a decleration of appreciation of the component. I don't see the problem with having fans - that's a compliment. All I'm saying is, update people once aweek, then you won't have these threads, that seem to anoy you so much.
Re:How soon will a stable 1.0.2 be released? 1 Year, 3 Months ago
I see a lot of people coming to the boards with their hands out but few actually want to get their hands dirty. How about actually getting in there and helping bug test the component? That will definitely speed up the release time. A lot of people lately have come to the forums only to post a "is it ready?" question never to be seen or heard from again. Not enough people are reporting problems that they come across. Without that input the release date will take longer and you'll have a better chance of getting a release with undiscovered issues when it IS released. Sorry you think it's "bad manners" but the reality of it is that the devs don't have to do anything whether anyone thinks they should or not.

I guess that applies to just about anyone in any situation. Nobody has to do anything. But that wouldn't get us anywhere, would it?
There is no reason for you to get offended on somebody else's behalf when no offence was meant. If you take a look at this entire thread you can see the devs haven't made a single post... All we are doing is saying that there is a problem with communication here. Nobody is ripping on the component or the work that is being done on it.
When people are asking when it will be ready it is because they're fans of the component - how can that upset you? How can that upset anyone? it doesn't make any sense to get upset about this - really!
By the way, I am testing the component, but where's the sense in posting issues that have already been posted? Also, when someone points out a problem in these kinds of component forums, there is always some grumpy old man who has to play the "if you're not happy then do it yourself"-card. While some people are just impatient and don't actually do any work themselves, some of us do. I'm suer many people would like to help code the thing, but not everyone knows php. In fact not everyone has the talent needed to help on this project - I know I don't.
I think my point is both valid and quite clear but I don't think we'll ever see eye to eye on this. So as far as I'm concerned this thread is closed.

You clearly have no valid argument. If it is really that annoying to see posts about 'when is it gonna be released', make a statement about a possible release date.
Nobody in this thread has mentioned anything about not appreciating the good work the dev team is doing, so it is a mystery where you are actually pulled that one out of.
One good example of how things could be is the CB dev team. They announced that CB 1.1 would be released in the next weeks, this got then delayed several times but the overall effect was: there were no posts like 'what is going on' and nobody really cared when things got delayed because everybody was aware of how tough it is to get quality releases out.
Re:How soon will a stable 1.0.2 be released? 1 Year, 3 Months ago
I think I have a pretty valid argument. Just saying I do not doesn't nullify it. The point of the matter is I am talking about ALL the posts of this nature on the forum. All of you that have the OPINION That the devs should be notifying you on some kind of timetable need to realize that it's just that. An OPINION. The FACT is that they do not. And the REAL FACT is that they don't have to be doing what they're doing AT ALL. How is that argument not valid? Actually you HAVE a timetable in the form of the FB roadmap. That's all you should need. And I'm not going to sit and speculate on a release date. Got better things to do here like helping out (when I can) when someone needs it. Would it be nice to hear something? Sure. But am I registering just to ask the question "Is it done yet?". No.
Re:How soon will a stable 1.0.2 be released? 1 Year, 3 Months ago
I'm quite amused by you emphasising so many parts in your posts. I believe you should read my post before saying things like 'Just saying I do not doesn't nullify it.'.
Anyway, I don't think any logical work flow will satisfy you; hence, to mix this whole seriousness up a little, a quite nice video on 'facts' (it's about 2min into the video)

OK, I understand everyone's side here but lets please keep these posts on topic. Also, I would appreciate it if there were no bashing or flaming of anyone BY anyone.
