I have heard from a few of my users over the past while that while viewing the forum on my site, IE7 shuts down. It seems to be specific to IE7.

I apologize if this has already been discussed in another topic, I tried to do a search but didn't come up with anything.

One user in particular had this to say

It only gives me the error message "Internet Explorer has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience." It also asks if I would like to send an error report to Microsoft. It only does it when I am in the forum and wanting to read a particular post.

Any ideas? I'm going to try to replicate the problem but I only have access to my Mac right now so I'm unable to do so right now.

I find it hard to believe that noone else is having this problem, IE7 only closes when my users enter the forum, nowhere else on the site.

Any suggestions??

I checked your website, I didnt get any problem with
IE7,IE6, Firefox, Opera - Windows
Also
Doesn't have problem with Safari, firefox, Opera on MAC

What is your fireboard version?
If you get this kind of problem I guess you have memory problem.

I've never had it shut down on me personally either, but I've heard from 4 different users now that it's shut down on them and they all use IE7 (on XP or Vista - doesn't matter). Did you try and open a post? That seems to be the trigger, going to Forum Main doesn't shut it down.

I have the latest 1.04 installed.

any direct link? maybe there is something special about a particular post (like an embedded movie,...)

Seems to be the usual Mootools vs. Jquery thing seeing as how that appears to be a RT template. I've have never heard of it "killing" IE.

I thought that might be it too, but I don't have mootools installed.

I don't have a specific info (or link) besides the comment above and this one I just got this afternoon:

For the last 2 weeks, whenever I log in and go to the forum page, Internet Explorer shuts down. If I don't log in I'm fine but then I can't post or reply to posts as a guest.

I don't really have any modules that are only available to registered users so I dunno. This problem has only started happening since IE7 came out. I haven't done any updates or installs to the site since then that would have changed anything.

You can use the following account to see if you can replicate the problem:

You don't "install" Mootools. It's built into the RT template.

OK...well I've been using this template for over a year and it wasn't until lately that fireboard has been conflcting.

Is there a fix or some sort of debugging hints anyone can provide?
