Fireboard - Users cannot Register an account 2 Months, 1 Week ago
Hi,

This is my first post, and i have looked through the boards and couldn't find a similar problem. So here we go :

I set up my first FB yesterday and everything installed fine, and when configuring the setup options that too appeared to work.

As ADMIN i am able to login to the site and create a post.

However when i tried to 'Register' a new account as a user to test the system i ran in to problems.

The following error message gets posted on the screen:
"Could not instantiate mail function"

Although it says an account has been created and and an activation email has been sent.
Well this email never arrives, so i am unable to activate the account.

When i look in the table 'jos_fb_users' i discover there is only 1 user and that is Admin. NO SIGN of my test account.

So i tried to register the test account again. But get a message saying 'This user id and Email already exist, please use the Lost password link'

I have tried to setup further test accounts, but fail, (and am running into problems as each one requires me to use a NEW emial accout, as the others are already registered).

My setup

The URL of my site is http://www.rawtorecovery.com/nutrition/index.php/forum
I am running Joomla 1.5.4
Hosted by netfirms (an advantage account)
FIREBOARD 1.0.5RC2
Joomla Template is JA_Purity

I can't provide you with a test account, as i am unable to create an account at this stage, unless you can guide me to do this.

I think that is all the info required...and i look forward to your replies.

Kind regards

Andy

Hey I found the solution to this!

I found out that my hosting place doesnt allow using email from other domain than my own domain for the website's email. you see when you have the contact form or something llike that, tha sender of the email has to be using ur own domain such as This e-mail address is being protected from spam bots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it .

so what I did, I went to the global setting of joomla admin page. and changed the websites "from" email to This e-mail address is being protected from spam bots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it aaaand voila! everything works now! people cn subscribe and contact you using contact form!

goodluck!
