Things To Consider Before Installing. 10 Months ago
As everyone knows, 1.0.3 is just around the corner. Here are some suggestions before you get ready to take the dive.

  • Backup your system. All of it. (You're doing that on a regular basis anyway, right? )

  • Notify your members of possible downtime. You never know what problems to expect.

  • Setup a local sever for testing such as JSAS ( http://jsas.joomlasolutions.com/ ) or a LAMP install ( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/LAMP_(software_bundle) ) Install configure it with your current site and database. Then you can do a dry test run without running the risk of messing up your live site.

  • Did I mention backup?

  • Using a custom template? It may need to be updated before it will display properly. If you are depending on someone else updating your existing template it is a good idea to wait until that update can be performed.

UPDATE: I created a flash demo to show you how to install JSAS on Windows.

Unzip and open JSAS_demo.htm in your web browser. (Flash required to view)
