Same here. 112,000+ posts and SQL dies after 10 minutes or so.

There is no help on this issue at present. FB simply does not scale very well with larger forums. Even here the forums get slow and even shut down. This will be addressed with the upcoming 1.1 release.

Have you tried disabling some of the Fireboard plugins? The "Latest Posts" plugin caused a huge delay in my installation. After disabling it, all runs fine.

Even here the forums get slow and even shut down. Was that the reason for bestofjoomla.com being unreachable in the last days? It looked more like a DNS issue to me...

now i try to use phpbb3, and maybe when you have fireboard 1.1 test this.

I like fireboard because i don't need a bridge, but i have a big site.

I gave up with FB and went back to SMF using Joomlahacks latest bridge. Works like a dream and, sorry FB, there is still far more functionality, especially in the board admin, than there is with FB.

Maybe in another year or so it might be a serious contender, but right now, my site is too important to me & my community.

Re:After migrated smf to fireboard my server is sl 4 Months, 1 Week ago
I agree. I logged in to search for a solution to the same problem and decided to do the same thing. I like Fireboard a lot but it has slowed so much that the members of my site are complaining and some have quit posting altogether. I have about 2000 messages in the forums and it repeatedly times out or gives an index.php error - especially when logging in. I've tried every fix I could find both here and on the Joomla! forums. I also optimize the database regularly. Nothing seems to work.

It seems as though once you get a certain number of posts, it just slows down and craps out. It is great that a new improved Fireboard will be released soon but when? It is in alpha now and who knows how long before it is even released to beta, much less the next stable version.

I can't wait around for that. My site had a lot of visitors and traffic to the forums is down 65% from a month earlier. I have a new site launching this month and there is no way I will repeat that mistake. I will either go with phpbb or SMF. As much as I would like to install Fireboard, I simply can't use it like this. Once I choose a forum, that is what I will stick with for awhile.

I don't know what to do about the forums on The Force Field site because the next version of Fireboard is yet to be released and I don't know of a way to migrate my existing Fireboard posts and stats to something else. It's a real mess. The timing is the worst because the site was just starting to pick up. Fireboard is just not ready for prime time.
