in short, it can't be done. but, I am working on it..... it needs to heavily modify the default Banner Component.

This would be a really good feature to have. i am using iAdAgency from iJoomla and am wanting to be able to assign different banners to different parts of the forum. so is there a way to create fb module positions for the different categories?

Although I haven't tried it yet myself specifically, you could try MetaMod: extensions.joomla.org/component/option,c...k_id,3391/Itemid,35/ If you have a read of the extension description it sounds promising. Hope this helps. If you have any success be sure to let us know here.
