hi
im new to joomla, but want to build a relatively simple e-commerce site.
here are some good examples showing what i'd like to build, but even simpler:

all my site will need is a title, a menu bar along the top (rather than on left hand side), and the most important part... display thumbnailed images (with a small description) of items for sale. clicking on an image will navigate the user to a new page with a larger image, and a detailed description including price.
i dont need a shopping cart, i will be using paypal and its own associated cart system.
questions:
1. i know i need to choose a template, and it will need some modification to simplfy it, because i wont need many features/parts some come with. should i use a standard joomla template, or find another?
2. is there an extension which will allow me to display thumbnails of items for sale, and if clicked on, navigate the user to new page with larger image, detailed description and price? any recommendations?
3. in joomla how will the image and description situation work? will i need a database to store this info, or will images just be stored in folders on my remote host? and i can manually enter the description via the administrator end?
