Hello,

I use Joomla for my job, so sadly they are not into smilies, avatars, etc.

I was able to disable avatars, smilies, etc. from the configuration, however the system is still showing the large avatar image on the front page (which I changed the image to our company logo) however the My Avatars menu item still shows up in My Profile.

Is there a way to disable these so they do not show at all?

Same question - anyway to disable "welcome ..." Avatar on front page, and regain 1.0.1 appearance. Kind of seems like setting all Avatar options to "no" should disable this one as well.

Same thing - I'd like to know how to hide the large avatar image on the front page. I've disabled all Avatars in admin but can't hide the one on the front screen.

What I have edited the .css template file and added: ".fb_profilebox {display: none;}" to the Header Section. This eliminates the whole block, including the Avatar, the "welcome" and menu items to the right of the Avatar. But, with the exception of the Avatar menu item (which I don't want anyway) all of the other menu items are repeats of the line above, so it is no loss.

One easy way, rename the avatar pictures. You can find them from images/fbfiles/avatars

Glad this works for you. When I tried it, it worked fine in Firefox but other browsers displayed a broken graphic where the Avatar should have been. Not pretty! That is why I had to work a little harder.

Yes, you are right, not pretty with Opera and Safari. It's ok with Camino and FF which are my main browsers. Probably I have to rename the avatars back to right ones.
