[solved] Install problem using Joomla! 1.5 RC3 1 Year, 2 Months ago

I'm trying to install Fireboard component 1.0.3 on a fresh install of Joomla! 1.5 RC3. I havn't had any problems with fireboard until now. Being that its Joomla! 1.5 I went in and published legacy plugin thinking this was the only change I needed to make on the new system. Then I went into the backend Extensions -> Install/Uninstall and when I upload the fireboard package it just goes to a blank page. I'm not getting anything to effect of a failed install or an error of any kind.
I've reset my servers logged in logged out. I've installed this just fine in Joomla! 1.0.13. Using MAMP with a fresh Joomla 1.5 install and i'm just not getting past the upload, I get a white screen and thats it.

Many components won't install on Joomla! 1.5 RC3 1 Year, 2 Months ago

Hi there. I have the exact same problem, but it is larger than that. Several components won't install.
I made a vanilla installation of Joomla! RC2, with the sample data. I then added a template, removed some articles, and updated to Joomla! RC3 by the simple copy-all-files method.
Next, I tried installing Fireboard Forum 1.0.3, which failed with a "The website cannot display the page" from Internet Explorer 7. I tried installing with and without the legacy plugin, using both the "Upload Package File" and "Install from Directory" routes. Same error. I also tried an older version, 1.0.1 beta, just to see if that helped. No such luck.
I have since then tried installing eventCal, and get the same blank page. This makes me think the problem is not with Fireboard, but with the new Joomla! release candidate. I have cross-posted to the Joomla! forum, and will update here when I know more.
I am running wampserver.com's WAMP in Windows Vista, and I have GnuZip and everything through that. During the installation of Joomla! nothing was flagged red.
Does anyone else have a similar problem?
Cheers,
Joran

Ok, finally found a fix for the white screen. First I went into my php.ini and turned on display errors
dispaly errors: on
Hey no more white screen, I got a nice error about not being able to allocate memory. I tracked this down and basically it said I had too many components. Back to the php.ini file I went and searched the document for memory and saw that it was set to 8mb, I bumped this up to 16mb as seen recommended on another post somewhere and YEAH, Fireboard installed with no errors woohoo!
Oh be sure to restart your server after making changes to the php.ini file for them to take effect.

Good for you.
I've worked some more on my problem, and got to the same point of receiving error messages. Unfortunately, my error message indicates that the creation of database tabels failed during installation. I'll make a new thread.
Cheers,
Joran
