[SOLVED] Problem with Signature not showing 11 Months, 1 Week ago
I just installed Fireboard, overall it's great, I love it! I have edited just a few stylizing items on the forum, nothing as far as code and the signature section will not work. Whenever I save the signature it just puts a 0 in the box where the signature should be. I see this page is what creates the signature form: myprofile_profile_info.php but I haven't modified that file at all. I am running 1.0.10 Joomla and I can't ugprade, I've hacked it too much.

Are there any known issues with older versions of Joomla? Anyone have any ideas where I can look to solve this?

Thanks!

I think the signature box is very particular about what you put in it. Certain characters are not welcome there. Can't remember which ones.

I thought about that. But all I'm putting in is the word test to see if that works and still the 0 shows.

It could very well be something to do with 1.0.10. That is an OLD version of Joomla.

Ok, FRESH install of newest non-1.5 Joomla, FRESH install of Fireboard, signature still only showing a 0 (zero). I put the work "test" (without quotes) and that's it. It still only shows a zero. This is NOT an "old Joomla" issue, nor is it a "I've hacked it too much" issue. Any ideas?

Are you using CB?

Ok, Here's what I did:
1. Reinstalled Fireboard - No Change.
2. Realized that the Database tables remain even after a uninstall, so I deleted the tables and reinstalled again. No Change.
3. Realized that after applying the CB Integration in Fireboard that it wrote tables in CB database. Deleted/uninstalled CB and its DB tables. Reinstalled Fireboard and its tables.
4. KEY STEP!!!!! DO NOT APPLY CB PROFILE(by clicking the "Create Community Builder forum profile" link)& MAKE SURE "COMMUNITY BUILDER USER PROFILES" IS SET TO "NO"! Now Fireboard will work with its own siggy data and CB will not interfere.

You can use a sig in the CB profiles.

Could someone please post detailed instructions on how to do this. All over the internet you have people who simply say "Oh - just use this", but never explain how! Sorry, psychic abilities have not yet been developed thoroughly yet! (I'm just playing around here, no offense intended!)

I've tried using CB for siggies, no go. Still just a zero (0) for a siggy. Once I did the above with reinstalling everything and NOT using CB and it worked - ONCE. Now it's back to the old game of "You have ZILCH (0) for a siggy! Ha-ha!" (I had to reinstall FB one more time and it screwed up again)

So, Now I have a fresh install of CB, a fresh install of FB and it upgraded the old SimpleBoard, and this time I performed the SQL functions shown here and still have the issue with the (0) zero for all signatures!

This problem is delaying a new site launch for 900+ members....

Ok, reinstalled EVERYTHING! Dumped my ENTIRE DB! Started over. Now I still get the (0) zero when trying to use FB's own profile system. Obviously something wrong with FB's profile signature coding. So, I try to use CB's profile system. I FINALLY got that to work, but it looks like garbage! Somewhere I read that you can't change the names (titles?) of the fields in CB Tabs and Fields. Why? Is the description of the tabs/fields the actual database entry values? Why would you do that?!? Use aliases for the titles and "hidden" in the background is the actual db values! Hmmm... anyway, I'm going to change the titles anyways and see what transpires and make "fixes" as they happen. Wish FB worked outta the box!
