Can I ask a stupid question (or four)

1. How far of is 1.0.5 from being a stable release?
2. I have an FB 1.0.4 installed, is the 1.0.5RC2 just a case of uninstall 1.0.4 and then install 1.0.5RC2
EDIT: downloads.joomlacode.org/frsrelease/3/1/9/31960/README.txt
3. If I install 1.0.5RC2 and then 1.0.5RC3 or final comes out is it easy to update?
EDIT: downloads.joomlacode.org/frsrelease/3/1/9/31960/README.txt
4. I have read 2.0 is 90% done, so how far away is 2.0 off a release?

Cheers

1.0.5 is more stable than ANY prior FB release ever. I decided to keep it at RC2 to make sure we fix any remaining minor issues. In the past the version would have been released with many bugs still present. Going through the nightly builds and RC1 & 2 has enabled us to test the release really well.

I recommend you upgrade to it just as described in the README you listed. It will run MUCH better and cleaner than any prior release.

Upgrades to future versions are super easy. Once you are on any 1.0.5 you simply uninstall and install the new build. Done.

2.0 is NOT 90% done. Yes the UI is, but we have quite a bit of work left 'underneath the covers'. It is at least a few more months before we will have a public beta.

1.) Your RSS feed contains an extra line before the RSS feed starts that does not come from the FB RSS generator.
That is throwing off any RSS client. Need to figure out who ro what is adding that content type line in there
What version of Joomla are you on?

2 and 3) I am not sure I understand the issue. I found multiple posts on your forum with multiple smilies in them. What kind of error are you seeing?

4.) Can somebody from the translation team jump in here?

Thx for that.

In addition to my prior post: How did you declare/insert the link in your board footer? Are you using the
Code:

[url].....[/url]
Syntax?

Every time I upgrade FB tot the latest version I have to manually reupload my non-english language file and custom template. Isn't it possible to simplify the upgrade for FB users that don't use the standard template and English language file?

BTW I love FB 1.0.5 it has great improvements compared to 1.0.4! Can't wait for 2.0!

Unfortunately, this is not as easy, as the Joomla installer does not know anything but full install and (more importantly) full uninstall. Nothing in between. For 1.0.5 it is not possible to separate the templates completely from the core code. The template would have to be stored in a different directory tree altogether.

Sorry about that.

As to language I think it would be good if the new Joomla way of using language files would be followed, and if known language files would be included in the installation package, but I suppose that is for version 2.

1.) joomla 1.5.7 as mentioned before
2.) for example here: wii-media.nl/index.php/forum?func=view&a...=36&id=1054#1090 instead of showing the smilie it shows:
Code:

/wii-media.nl/components/com_fireboard/template/default_ex/images/english/emoticons/cool.png" alt="" style="vertical-align: middle;border:0px;" />
that line of code

3.) as you can see here: wii-media.nl/index.php/forum?func=view&a...=41&id=1023#1072
Instead of showing www.nds-gadgets.nl it shows:
Code:

/www.NDS-Gadgets.nl" target="_blank" rel="nofollow">www.NDS-Gadgets.nl

4.) It seems that when setting the backend to dutch, in the backend of fireboard it want to load the image from wii-media.nl/components/com_fireboard/template/default/images/dutch/emoticons/cool.png but that "/dutch" map isn't there

FB 2.0 will do that. Unfortunately that cannot be done for 1.0.5 or it would no longer work with Joomla J1.0.x installs - or tons of custom code would have to be written to enable the new language handling of J1.5 in and environment with J1.0

All valid points for FB2.0

Are you using any mambots or other plugins that could interfere with links? Can you try turning off mambot support within FB in the backend? Something is messing with those links and it is not FB. Just tried your posts on my local test servers on both J1.0.x and J1.5.x

All those links now contain the proper SEO follow/nofollow rel tags. Any old - non SEO enabled mambot could trip over that.
If you are using a mambot to shorten URL links, try disabling it, as FB does that now by itself.

My guess is that you have something installed that does not understand the proper format of SEO enabled links. We follow the exact standard on the 'nofollow' tags and it should not cause an issue with any software. However some old plugins might use incorrect regex or code to modify links they find on a page.
