Custom Catagory Images 1 Year, 5 Months ago
|
|
|
I noticed that they mention it on the sample forums and they have them in this forum also. can anyone give a few basics of how to do this? I will work on it and fill it out but I need to know where to start to look.
Thank you for your time and attention

all you do is simply look at what number ID your category is.
for example lets say you have a category called Fireboard and on the admin back end under forum administration where the category called Fireboard is next to that there is a number lets say 1.
Now all you do is create an image with the dimensions no bigger than 48px x 48px and then simply call it the following names:-
1_notlogin.gif
1_off.gif
1_on.gif
bear in mind that will display the same image if you are not logged in or you are logged in, what I did was create an image, then made the ones where noone is logged in greyscale (these two 1_notlogin.gif
1_off.gif) and then the same image but with colour (this file name 1_on.gif)
once you have done that upload the files to this directory using FTP / JoomlaXplorer [code:1]components/com_fireboard/category_images[/code:1]
Hope that helps
Dan

Thank you so much Dan that was a fast reply. I have tried that, i am still not seeing my custom images. Is there a setting to "use custom images" some where? How do I need to have my template settings set? Should I be using the Joomla template.

Images are probably cached. That's why they might not appear to show up after uploading them.

It would be better to let the admin customize an icon in the FB forum administration, right?

Patricia,
the default icons on all categories i.e. the blue, orange folder icon are generated in the directory components/com_fireboard/template/blue_vis/images/english/icons/folder_nonew.gifbut when U want to create and upload the custom category images you need to upload them into the category_images folder.
Now can you tell me which version of Fireboard you are using please
Danny
