Hi i have just installed FireBoard and when i try to upload themes via FTP i get the following error


[5/18/2007 3:14:20 PM] 550 Can't create directory: Permission denied
ERROR:>
[5/18/2007 3:14:20 PM] Requested action not taken (e.g., file or directory not found, no access).
ERROR:>
[5/18/2007 3:14:20 PM] Can't create following directory: "/public_html/components/com_fireboard/template/x".


i have also tried changing the template directory to 777 but still gives me that error....

Please help me As soon as you can,

Sounds like an ownership problem. If you are using an apache server and everything is owned by nobody:nobody you won't be able to do anything until it is changed.



This has been a big problem for many people for a long time, a post here on joomla forums with some more info - forum.joomla.org/index.php/topic,9987.msg82253.html

If you have joomlaxplorer you can use that to see who owns the directories.

You need someone with root access to chown [ change ownership ] the directories to your own usergroup.

You could try uploading and extracting the theme zip using JoomlaXplorer. Read this thread: www.bestofjoomla.com/component/option,co...,3376/catid,65/#3373
