Joomla - General File Upload? 11 Months, 2 Weeks ago
Is there a means to upload a file to link from a content submission? As opposed to copy and paste. If I am creating an article, I find no way to, for example, attach a PDF or other file to it except to create a post in Fireboard and upload the file there, then link it to the article.

Are you referring to uploading in Joomla?
If so then you have several options. FTP or a file management component which can be found at extensions.joomla.org

I'm getting more confused the more I read the first post. Is this a Joomla thing? Or FireBoard thing? You can use Joomla's Media Manager to upload files to use in your articles. Or for something more robust install JoomlaXplorer. There is always you own FTP client or browser to use.

GM, he/she is wanting to upload files to his directory to use in articles within the main site. Currently they are uploading files in Fireboard and adding a link from the main site articles to the fireboard uploaded files. So yes they need either an FTP program, Joomla media uploads or JoomlaXplorer.

It is a Joomla thing. Something that does not need the administrator to perform.

WIthout the admin? I don't think such a thing exists. Maybe check the extension over at joomla.org.

sorry. newbie. did not see the general joomla forum until now. will go there. however will comment on file upload requiring administrator. someone with author privileges should be able to upload and link a file when creating content, as a reference or for whatever purpose, rather than copy and paste. appears that images also require administrator to upload prior to creating content by author.
