I followed the steps however, even though the import to Joomlaboard reported successfully importing 141 users, they didn't appear when I checked the users through the Joomlaboard admin control panel. They also didn't appear in the Joomla user control panel.

Only the 3 Joomla users appeared in each case.

Re:SMF to FireBoard 1 Year, 1 Month ago
It looks like it has to be bridged first, but to the suprise to no one the BRIDGE WAS DECLARED ILLEGAL and cant be found anywhere.

You know, converting from PHPBB to Fireboard (or phpbb to SMF to Fireboard now!) has been the biggest pain and the most frustrating thing I have ever tried to attempt in my own web development.

The PHPBB converter is broken. SMF no longer has a bridge to Joomla to import the damned users, so you can move everything but that.

Just WTF, I have tried everything I can think of so far and nothing F#$%^ works.

I just want to convert to YOUR system Fireboard, why is this not a bigger deal to support people who want to convert from forum X? As a note I am not trying to get banned from BestofJoomla, this all just seems way harder than it is.

Sorry, I just tried for 2 more hours to convert my board going from SMF to Joomla, I could not be more upset at how this is going, or isn't.

In the end with the PHPBB bridge and the SMF one, the issue is always the users conversion not taking place.

So Im at the end of my rope aside finding something else I can transfer PHPBB to and convert to Joomla from that.

Can someone write scripts just for the user transfer part for SMF?

Re:SMF to FireBoard 1 Year, 1 Month ago
EDIT: Never mind - I found the solution the third time I read the whole thread!

Ok this might get a bit involved

I am running SMF 1.1.1

I have just installed Joomla 1.3 to the same database as SMF (which was installed first)

I have set up 3 users in Joomla with the same usernames as 3 of the SMF users (me and two other admins)

I have tried the "SMF to Joomlaboard to Fireboard" method AND the "SMF to Fireboard" method (bunglehaze's one)and with either method I get the following

Populating Categories...

OK...categories and boards imported successfully!

Populating Users Table...
, ,
Total users 121, Inserted 3 of the users...

(NOTE: If inserted is less than actual, it is due to the user having made a post but has since deleted their account. The post will still show up as usual though...)
User import into JoomlaBoard successful!!
Populating 422 messages into JoomlaBoard.

Message import Successful!

Conversion completed successfully!!!

You may now verify the installation was successful and then delete your SMF files and data.

Enjoy JoomlaBoard!

Although when I use Bunlgehaze's method I get the message on the mysite.com/index.php?option=com_smftofb page

So it seems to only convert the users I manually set up in Joomla and none of the others. The annoying thing is that everything else is there - Categories, boards, messages - it just isn;t converting the users.

Does anyone have any ideas about how I can fix this?

Oh and thankyou very much to the FB team and all the others who have already put a lot of work into this. It's greatly appreciated

Re:SMF to FireBoard 1 Year, 1 Month ago
As mentioned in a previous post, I managed to migrate a small SMF board to Fireboard by using PHPBB as a migration step. My conversion included users, posts, categories, threads, etc. The only thing that wasn't retained was the child boards which I had to relate to their parent board manually.

I've noticed that I'm left with 9 tables in the database with the prefix, 'jos_sb' (which I assume are for Simpleboard). I have 14 with prefix, 'jos_fb' (which I assume to be for Fireboard). Is it OK to delete the tables with the 'jos_sb' prefix?

When I tried the smf --> JB --> FB method I got the same jos_sb tables. I think once your fireboard is working, you can go ahead and get rid of the jos_sb ones. I did and it had no effect on the FB I had installed. Hopefully someone who actually knows what they are talking about can confirm this.

My suggestion is to do what a forum member here just recently did. Hire a REAL programmer. Everyone early on was so eager to donate to the FB devs and did not get a response. Take those proposed donations and hire a PHP programmer to write a nice solid converter. No offense to the devs or their skills but it seems this converter is very low on the list of priorities.

I guess if they won't take $$ to get a convertor done (SMF-FB would be a rather obvious choice, especially with all the issues with the bridges), then we shouldn't feel so positive about a FREE project getting done any quicker. A very unfortunate circumstance to say the least.
