I don't have one. I was exclaiming about cconnaker's workaround. Maybe I was too swift?

I am guessing if you edit the fireboard.php file to have a static path pointing to forum.css it might work. For example

change instances like this
/components/com_fireboard/template/' . $fb_change_template . '/forum.css'

to
/components/com_fireboard/template/default/forum.css'

but be careful of switching templates without changing the static path.

Hi,

I seem to have exactly this same problem.

System Windows 2k
Firefox 2.0.0.9
WAMP with Apache 2.2.6; MySQL 5.0.45; PHP 5.2.5
Clean install of Joomla 1.5
Set Joomla to Legacy Mode
Go to Install/Uninstall and point the "Browse" to the "component_Fireboard_Forum_1.0.3.zip" package.
Click on "Upload file and Install" -- and wait..........
After about a minute of "waiting for localhost" I get a pure white empty screen.

If I try the Reload Current Page button in Firefox I am warned that the page contains POSTDATA and if I click OK I am taken to the Joomla page which says that "Another component is already using directory "C:WAMPwwwcomponentscom_fireboard"

Fireboard does NOT then appear in the Component list to UnInstall and instead I search and manually delete any file with "fire" in it's name within WAMP.

Other errors also have occurred in attempting an installation including:
Maximum execution time of 30 seconds exceeded in C:wampwwwlibrariesloader.php on line 32

Fatal error: Maximum execution time of 30 seconds exceeded in C:wampwwwlibrariesjoomlafilesystemfolder.php on line 396

Fatal error: Maximum execution time of 30 seconds exceeded in C:wampwwwlibrariesjoomlautilitiessimplexml.php on line 452

Any light anyone can shed on this would be gratefully appreciated.

...Bryce

Can’t get fireboard installed!

I follow this instructions:
1. First, unpack the archive on your local computer.
2. Go to your Joomla! Administration > Installer > Components
3. Click Browse, Select the package (zip) and click on “Install”.

After some minutes I get an blank page in IE saying THE PAGE CANNOT BE DISPLAYED.

Who can help with an solution?

SOLVEDJoomla 1.5 + Fireboard installation problems 9 Months, 1 Week ago
Joomla 1.5RC3 + FB 1.0.3

On install, I got this:
MySQL server has gone away SQL=INSERT INTO jos_components VALUES( "", 'Fireboard Forum', 'option=com_fireboard', 0, 0, 'option=com_fireboard', 'Fireboard Forum', 'com_fireboard', 0, 'js/ThemeOffice/component.png', 0, '', 1 )

I manually ran this statement in mysqladmin. The FB link is now in the component menu, but gives error.

Tried to reinstall, but get
Component Install: Another Component is already using directory: "hiding path for security/components/com_fireboard

The directory com_fireboard does not exist, and I can find no reference to it in the DB.

What file/table holds the reference to the path? I want to remove it and retry. I think my MySQL server dropped for a bit, causing the failure, but some of the install process succeeded.

Nevermind. I found it. It was in administration\components\com_fireboard
deleted the directory, and installed just fine!

Re:Joomla 1.5 + Fireboard installation problems 9 Months ago
I just installed FB on joomla 1.5 in legacy mode, and everything seemed to install fine. But when I attempt to register a new user, I was not taken to a confirmation page. The new registration page just refreshed. I did receive a confirmation email, so I went back to the main forum screen and tried to login. When I click the "login" link, nothing happens...the page just refreshes. Any ideas?

Registration issues with 1.5 and certain templates have been a recurring problem. Luckily, one where the solutions have for the most part been worked out. To help you I need a little more info.
1. Are you using the most current nightly build of 1.5?
2. What template are you using? (try using Beez and see if registration works. If it does I know the fix.)
3. Are new users able to register on the Joomla portion of the site?

If you would provide a link to your site I could try to register as a new user and see what's going on. You can take a look at my site to see how it is supposed to work. I'll tell you it took some doing to get Joomla and my template to work correctly. Fireboard worked fine after I got the other two in line. My site is alcoholicsanonymousonline.com Go to the Study Forum to see Fireboard and register as a new user from there. You can also register from the front page through Joomla and after activation and Login Fireboard lets you right in and does not require an additional login.

Thanks for your quick reply. I downloaded joomla 1.5 on November 30. I'm using the guatama template, but Beez doesn't work either (I just tried it). It appears new users are able to register on Joomla, but I'm not getting any immediate confirmation of registering. The site is www.buymusicandmovies.com. Any ideas would be GREATLY appreciated.

It looks like you have SMF up and running. I was able to register just fine. There was no activation email required. The only comment I would have is that the terms and conditions section is so long that I had to scroll down to agree and register. Shorter might be better.

Yes, I couldn't get fireboard to work so I disabled it and installed smf. Then I couldn't get the smf bridge to work so I just wrapped the forum. Sheesh.
