TOPIC: Too much bug for a stable release
#21489
Re:Too much bug for a stable release 12 Months ago
well, I agree there are bugs but you know what - I am quite happy running my community site on fireboard and after a right old game converting from IPB I have the site back in an operational state where the members seem happy
See it here with a few choice template and graphic mods:
http://www.phishybusiness.co.uk/phorum

In any case now the code is stable its up to us to find and report the bugs, if we dont then the dev's cant fix it... Put FB into perspective against other commercial boards like IPB and VB and you will find the features list is getting up to scratch, as the software is still only really an infant I think we can expect good things for the future so why not just post your bugs and help others fix their's so we can really motor forward?

I have over 21000 posts and the site seems to run ok, so as far as I am concerned the code is stable enough to use in production and as such can be considered a stable release.

cheers

For the sake of not seeing this constant argument being brought up about, "oh, Since Fireboard is Free the dev team is allowed" to send out software which some people are calling below par, I think Fireboard should be a reasonably priced component. I would pay for it.

This software is above par, yes it has a few quirks, but it works and there is some sort of support. There are plenty of components out there that don't have support and they suck but we still gotta pay for them.

I agree that FREE doesn't mean, people can't speak their mind. But just be grateful and give back constructive criticism for the sake of making things better. If you don't like it that bad, stop using it.

It's seems that the FREE concept is simply a cop-out. I haven't heard as much of this kinda talk coming from Joomla itself being a FREE software, and it's AMAZING!. So for both sides of the spectrum, just let it be. Anyone can find something to say and go back and forth all day.

So here's the solution to make everyone happy:

Dev Team gets paid
Customers get less buggy software and less things to complain about

Here's another solution which works all the time:

Everyone who uses Fireboard donates 1 dollar to support the dev team. Now $1 doesn't seem like a lot, but when multiplied by how many people download fireboard then we are talking a nice chunk of change. This can even be done monthly or everytime a new release or update is posted.

if these are not the solutions then all the static coming from both sides needs to stop. It is what it is.

Bottomline: Moving forward is the objective here, Fireboard works, yes it's Free, but if it's gonna take money to get people to stop arguing then I'll be willing to put up some cash to use the Best Forum Component for Joomla.

Peace

I'm really sad about what the people understand about my post.
Constructive don't mean only positive feedback.

I use fireboard and I suggest fireboard to everybody ask me about the best forum for Joomla.

Sorry if my post seems to misunderstand your point. I didn't mean to offend anyone. I apologize if my post seemed that way.

For people who are willing to pay for this component, that's very nice of you to offer financial support. But I guess there are people who do not work for money. I have no idea whether the dev team will take that. But here is another solution, you can always go to joomlancer (www.joomlancers.com/) to get your intolerable bugs fixed or special feature requests done. Of course the more you are willing to pay, the faster your requested may be handled. That is just business.

Again, no offense. Just trying to offer suggestions. Sorry for my poor English.
