Re:Avatar 11 Months ago
I'll look into this.

I run my own servers and sometimes with all the jargon sometimes things get missed. I know GID was an option in one form.

I'll get back on this when I can provide a better answer.
Best.

Could be....related to Community Builder. As it doesnt work on my forums if I upload an animated Gif. I heared this has something to do with the image library your server is using.

Thanks for your offer to help, but what me - and I think some more people need - is the possiblity of uploading(!) an animated gif via User Profile, with CB integrated.

GID my backside sorry...

Can I ask what library you have selected in CB
>>> Configuration Manager/images

I have GD2 for instance.

and.................

Fireboard Configuration/uploads

Do you have either of these turned off?

Allow Public Upload for Images
Allow Registered Upload for Images

=====================================

Under Fireboard Configuration >>> Avatar Settings

Do you have any of the following set to NO?

Allow Avatars
Allow Avatar Upload
Use Avatars Gallery

As regards server settings I think you should contact your host if...........

Under Configuration Manager >>> You see non connection errors in there telling you the image software was not found. These should be easy enough for your host to get hold of for you.

Sorry about GID. Working on a way to get out of that.

Best.

Hi there,

GD2 library is selected.

Allow Public Upload for Images

Allow Registered Upload for Images

Both set to "Yes". If one of it would be set to No, Users wouldnt be able to upload their avatar via CB.

Allow Avatars

Allow Avatar Upload

Use Avatars Gallery

1. Yes
2. No
3. No

Also I apriciate your will to discuss, Im not able to understand what all of this has to do with animated Avatars not showing animated in the Forum.
Sorry if I misunderstood you..

I've just run a test on my install too. Your right animated gifs do not work within the forum. I know that my servers settings are correct so I suspect this is either a joomla problem. (I did read somewhere that the latest release fixes a bug in media manager though I don't really know if this applies to this problem).

OR.........

This is fireboard problem.

It looks like I cannot help my friend. Sorry let's hope for a fix sometime soon.

Here is one such thread that refers to this Joomla problem. (If this applies?) http://forum.joomla.org/index.php/topic,8794.0.html

Hope this helps?
Not right?

Yea, hopefully there will be a solution.
The question still is, why some avatars in this forum are animated?

More than likely because they are using a later version called 'nightly builds - SVN I would have thought? ]

I've not upgraded but suspect this will cure it I hope?

I'd like an option for any user to turn his/her avatar OFF completely...

I haven't been able to find any response to this.
I am using CB 1.1 and FB 1.03 and would like to be able to have animated avatars but I can not seem to get them to work.

Give it something new to that issue?

The Avatars are animated in the Profil, the Signature and in the Psots. But they are not animated under the Name of the poster.

Exist some solutions?

Avatar Animation Fix

Hi Guys,

This was my simple fix for this problem, I hope it works for you also.

In your community builder configuration images settings.

Change your image software from GD2 to ImageMagick if it is installed on your server.

Your forum gif's will then stay animated.

Cheers,

M
