[SOLVED] Feature request: Break long URLs 7 Months ago

Hello there,

I think Fireboard needs some kind of function to automatically break long URLs (e.g. inserting ... in the middle) after a certain length. It totally messes up the layout.
http://www.sodijsoidjsd.com/component/so...amp;sonons/sdjn.html
becomes http://www.sodijsoidjsd.com/com.../sdjn.html
or something like that.

Even this forum has the same problem as you can see in some posts post.

Nothing more to say about that.

I use mostruncateurl that is a mambot from http://www.mikkosoft.fi that works like you ask for. Works in Fireboard as well.

You have to be registered. Possibly after logging in the link becomes visible.

grumblemarc is correct. I just downloaded the file and you have to be registered. Once you register click on Free Software "at the top" then click click on the very first folder named "Mambots" inside there's your file

thx grumblemarc & jp23cent, never seen anyone posting a such a screenshot before, I would have figured where it was after logging in and the explanation from grumblemarc Thx andermax you saved me the hassle of registering yet at another site. Problem solved.

I have a suggestion - In vBulletin, if you enter - http://www.yahoo.com it transforms into - Yahoo! (fetches the page title of the given url and replaces the url-code, if can't fetch the title then it does what you have done...) Can you please update the code to do this, please ? I am waiting for this....
