It is a mootools conflict, I just can't find it (yet!) lol, the tabs were supposed to be working on the testsite too, but weren't working after I updated the mootools.js - maybe I did something wrong but it was working with the same pack on the live site... anyway, still need to figure out exactly what's happening so no need to bother any more since it has to do with that.

OK, after trying to figure out what exactly is the problem with mootools conflict, I'll share my thoughts in case anybody can help some more and maybe save someone from going through all this again.

First, I checked the core mootools pack. The Vcard was showing up ok, but my joomla template needes some more staff to work properly, so I then checked the full pack with which the template was working fine but the vcard was not showing

Hoping I would find the sweet spot I started checking many alternative mootools packs, finding out that if you need to use 'Element' pack you are doomed in noVcardland, and if you use mootools you most probably need that.

(Element is described by mootools as 'one of the most important items of mootools, contains the dollar function, the dollars function, and an handful of cross-browser, time saver methods to let you easily work with HTML elements'

I used the mootools packs available from here, is there any other alternative? Is my assumption of not being able to use this pack correct or am I missing something? should I forget about the vcard? to be or not to be?

this is why I keep javascript to a minimum.

I have a problem with the vcard in IE. It works in firefox, but when I roll over the avatar in IE it reports a script error.
The IE script editor breaks on line 6 of /numinu/plugin/jtip/demo.js
The line is
$('a.basic'.cluetip();

Looks like you might be missing a less than symbol somewhere

Looks like your layout gets broken, go through this thread messages and you'll find others had similar problems, pointing out possible solutions. It would also help if you provided a link to your live site.
