Actually IE handles it better. I had this issue and was able to resolve it but may not work for you. On of your module/position is causing the issue. In my case it was the usermenu. I simply took out everything in my left menu and my issue was resolved. I too use FireFox but IE it actually worked. For testing purposes, simply make your modules not display in your forum and see what happens. Also test to see if this happens when you are NOT logged in.
Unfortunately, this ain't it... I have my template set using one of the "if" statements (as in if it's using com_fireboard, disable everything except what's in the header/footer so that the forum takes up the full width of the template without having to redo all the module publishings) so there's nothing there that could cause a problem. I even disabled every module used in the header/footer of the main template so that nothing was showing up but the forum and the same thing was happening when I scroll down and hover over an avatar. There's something screwy there and I gotta find it.

It seems that the numinu template is taking some of it's css information from the main template. To tell the truth there seems to be a lot of that going on with this template and I haven't been able to figure it all out. I'll try to work on that today and see what I come up with.
I got this problem fixed - I simply replaced the span.fb_quote definition with #fireboard blockquote and set the parameters there - worked like a charm - better, even.

Since you are working at this, there is no sense in me kicking into it. I will work on the .css formating instead.
Sounds like a plan, but like I said I think it's likely going to be late this week before I can send anything useful up... Not only am I spending a great deal of time on fixing *this* template, I have other work that has to be done too (especially if I want to pay the bills... LOL) It's too bad I am doing everything on an offline server at the moment - I'd send up a link for people to see the progress. Maybe I'll set something of an online demo up at the end of the week when I send up a package.
