I don't get it. What is the purpose of Hiding text?

Maybe this has already been asked and answered; however I did look and couldn't find it. If it is possible, how do I add Mark All Read to both the All Discussions and Categories view.

I even searched and found a hack for PHPBB that describes it "This will allow you to hide the text so the user will have to respond in order to see the published message."

Kind of a juvenile attempt to FORCE people to interact in your forum IMO.

Good catch but in NUMINU, mark all read is not an option in All posts or Categories.
I guess your members will just have to read everything.

As I am working on the stable version of this, I'll see if it can be an option without totally going into the "Mark as Read" issue that was initially in 1.01-1.03.

If I see that this will be a problem, then I won't be adding.

Actually, if I remember an article I read some time ago correctly, the "hide" function was a hack that was developed for some forum that was "sharing" commercial software products. The "hide" function hid the actual download links from search engines making it harder for commercial developers to find where illegal copies were being stored and downloaded from. Microsoft and Adobe were the ones hardest hit at the time - now it's almost everybody.

Regardless of what the intended use is, you're right - it *is* a pretty lame attempt at forcing participation.

Also, since I asked a question, I want to offer a small something back. A really easy, no hack solution to making the Categories view the "default" view, is to just make your Forums link in your menu a URL link to the URL for the Categories view.
