sorry mate had a few too many watching the cricket tonight, got my smartass hat on.

I wanted to stay with the original principles of FB/JB which was to link into core, or J! and FB I didn't want to hack things up too much

And as for template all is good now I got things working on Silvertails.net

I can not get this to work for the life of me... I have followed directions to a T and understand what needs to happen. But no go. You can still be a registered member and see the category I have assigned to only certain members. Any help Dannymh would be great. I understand you have spent a lot of time on this and it's greatly appreciated.

dannymh, have you run into the problem with pagination with the restricted users list?

Try it on a forum rather than a category

I never really tested the pagination as
I only really tested with 3 users. The code I used for it is very likely broken as I never really read up on pagination in joomla just did a direct copy/paste.

My advice would be to have someone re-visit it.

Re:Completed: Private/Restricted Forums (Native) 10 Months, 3 Weeks ago
Hi,

Somehow files of my forum got corrupted and my forum stopped working. I restored files from backup and left the database as it is. Now the entire forum is functioning fine again except for the restricted forums.

The ones currently attached to the forums are okay, but I can not add new ones. When I type a username in the box now, nothing happens whatsoever. Before it would popup a box with a username I would be able to select. I am getting no error on the page.

Can someone please help me?

Sorry for the delay Dannymh. I've been busy working on other things and finally got around to trying just the forum! Guess what it works flawless! TY for the hard work man it's really paying off for the community. Also I've read were people can see the private forum in recent but so far it's not showing up for me.... It's workin awesome!

Hi All

Forum seems to be running fine, but we can no longer save any forum changes in the backend.

Joomla 1.0.11 and FB 1.0.4.

This hack will not change any way that forums save or operate. It does not touch (as in update) and of the core tables. It only updates it's own table and does selects from other tables.

it also does not change any code that would effect creation of forums
