upload another forum like phbb3 or whatever, and don't bridge it within joomla, give your preferred users a link and username, password...or you could just use yahoo groups or something like that also.

Well my Winmerged fireboard.php file is up and operating. So far no conflicts or errors.

Hi all,

Sorry am in a Blackboard user group meeting for most of the day. I havent had a chance to make the minor changes to the bugs found thus far. Am hoping for a chance on the weekend or last week.

I am just wondering whether anyone has this installed and up and running with out issues yet.

Also for the Fireboard.php file the only thing I added was the include of fb_restrict.php it just adds on functionality for restrictions and is a single function, you could even if you wanted to just add this function to fb_auth.php, in fact that is probably cleaner then we won' need to modify fireboard.php.

anyways I digress.

If anyone has this up and running please let me know, if not tell me te specific issues you are having.
Also for those who have this up and running, please let me know what you think, or of improvements in the way it operates that you can think of.

One bug i identified is that the amount of forums in the stats down the bottom counts the hidden forums when it shouldn't, I really think a rewrite of some of the addons should be rewritten to always check the permissions functions and the auth functions, this way future development will always include this and always keep core functionality.

I will set up a demo site with admin access when I next get a chance also.

For now back to the fun of the blackboard user group

I did a 1.0.13 joomla install added Fireboard and your mod and all seems to work just fine.

Found a bug...

If you post something in that restricted forum it apears in the botton of the forum as a lattest post...but thats not the real problem, if someone click there (even not registered) he is able to read...

Hmmm when I checked this functionality (As in being able to read the post, i wasn't able)

As for showing up in the "Latest Posts" at this stage I will need to re-write the "latest Posts" plugin because it does not honour the auth and permission functions, it instead uses a single query that won't work in here. I could quickly edit it exclude posts from all private forums, that is a very simple fix, but I would rather it work so that it shows posts for all forums you are a member of.

Also Arcanjo, am I able to see this in action on your site?

Sure..let me make you an account...and the password to access (the site is protected only tomorow goes online..and I need a quick fix)

I just checked this again. Are you sure you have set the forum to a private user group?

I think what the bug might be is that it checks your user group rather but still ignores the auth. Am rechecking code now
