I'm using "Fireboard 1.0.3 Stable [ BoardingFire ] 04 September 2007".

I patched to 1.0.4 when it came out but it was incompatible to my template so i unpatched it. But is .4 faster?

Will my forum be faster if i turn things off? Like post count... karma.. and stuff?

There are plenty of joomla cache products out there.

I used jcache and pagecache along with gzip compression and eaccelerator on the server she loads pretty damn quick to members and guests.

Could you try disabling the Latest Posts and Who's online modules? Maybe they are causing problems for you too...

If I enable them, they make the Forum entry page unusably slow.

Hi ok you please give me more detail on using cache and gzip, should gzip be on or off. Sorry for my dumb questions but these items I really dont know to much about. And what is eaccelerator ? Sound like someting I need, LOl. I'm on my own server as well.

Any help on this would be great..

There are so many Bugs in Page Cache and also Query Cache... and the person who made it is too busy doing other things at the moment.. You can try it though see if it works for you.. as for me.. It really slows down my site. Not 100% Stable. but try it it , might work for you Here's the Site
