Sorry to rain on your parade guy. But the fact is that FM is no closer to being released now than it was BEFORE you started this thread. Unless of course you're volunteering some of your programming skills to help Danial get it out the door?

Come on folks... lets not generate arguments over what is supposed to be a friendly conversation. Shake hands, and makeup or whatever it takes to get you guys back on track and on focus of the end goal.

Goal = Stable, "Mostly" Bug Free release candidate.

I agree with randelld, why does grumblemarc have such issues with any user asking questions on any subject? I guess the name says it all.

If we don't question things, changes will NEVER happen.

I personally use UddeIM myself but only because Clexus/FireMessage was not available when I went for it. I like UddeIM, don't get me wrong but I have used "Clexus" on a number of other sites including here and personally preffer it over others.

Everyone obviously has his or her own opinion or prefference but this is mine. Not to mention that but being on a development team gives a first hand look at a component/module/mambot and allows us "Open Source" users a chance to give back what we use. Give/Take realationship. Not to mention that but I have built several strong friendships by doing just this.

I personally like telling people... "Hey! I was apart of that."

As for Grumble, I noticed a mesage in his Forum Sig stating he no-longer was working with the Team here at BOJ so I haven't a clue what the issue is with him. No excusses for him but we all have bad days.

My 2 cents is that an attitude that grumblemarc is showing there, and has been showing lately, is worse than not leading anywhere. Because it leads backwards.

Flaming people for asking questions is not anywhere near good support or community spirit. I suggest you stay at your own forum community with that attitude.

On topic. I, as many others use UddeIM, but prefer Clexus/FireMessage. But I need to know something.

Clexus where jQuery powered, and that caused a lot of problems on popular templates. Are you going to do something about it, or do like you do with FB. Run with jQuery no matter what consequences it creates for novice users?

I'm not saying this because I have those problems. But I think of Joomla's main user group. After all, isn't Joomla meant to be the CMS for those who want to create a dynamic website without knowing PHP, HTML or JS? We shouldn't just think of ourself, we should take care of those. That would save the forum for a lot of unnecessary questions.

clanspot, I am a new member of the Ninjoomla team, are you still on it?

Cheers,
Stian

Backwards? How so? ALL I said is that the cheerleading doesn't really accomplish anything. It does not move you forward.

I wish that FM gets released. Absolutely. But stating a fact that it's progress has not advanced is NOT doing anything except maybe stating the obvious. I don't see te negativity in that.

THE, and THE only problem facing FireMessage right now is lack of development. Danial has asked and asked repeatedly and has gotten nearly NO assistance in this area. Those volunteering to step up and fill the gaps I applaud you.

Also for once and for all let's make one thing clear. A forum is a place for DISCUSSION. Sometimes heated sometimes not. But some have seem to have forgotten that EVERYBODY has the right to their opinion and disagree. Anyone telling anyone to "go somewhere else" has absolutely NO right to do so, mod or not. So if SOMEone could show me the moderator handbook for BOJ I'd be glad to follow it to the letter. Otherwise I'd appreciate people NOT projecting THEIR values on to my "behavior".

You may now deplete my karma.

I will try to reduce the JS things here and there in the component. This can be done with a better design that current one (designers are welcome), so we wouldn't need slideDown/Up animations, ...

jQuery by nature is not the trouble (and i think with the latest version there is no conflict with mootools). It is poor programming of other templates, even JS libraries that causes it. Though, if it is really needed i will use it.

Hey, for one, I know you have probably answered this FM question a lot. But maybe it needed a refresh.

Because BoJ is a pretty heavy forum, and getting a fresh thread on the frontpage might help potential PHP developers to be aware of the fact that danialt needed help.

Perhaps stating that on the FM dl page might lead to more manpower.

The only part of your attitude I got a problem with is that you assume that people already know the answer. But probably no one know as much about this forum as you do, but eyh, can't blame them for that

I understand that. A jQuery to Mootools conversion is more work than you can ask anybody to do for free, but less JS errors, or less use of jQuery is a great step forward.

And I agree that template designers that don't ensure that their template's work in popular components that uses jQuery (like FB and like) shouldn't do JS in the first place (RT and YT, I'm looking at you). I'm not saying FM should be completely Mootools compliant, but when something is going to be redone anyways, why not do your best? That's my theory on why you take your time on FM. I for one never release anything that I know have bugs.

Good luck with it, I would love to help, but my schedule for the 2 months ahead are completely booked as we are busy setting up our new sites (namely NinjaTheme, NinjaForge and like) but if you still haven't released it by the time I have time on my hands I'll do my best to help you
