Re:Joomla 1.5 legacy, categories get lost 2 Months, 1 Week ago
I've installed Joomla! 1.5.3 (updated from 1.5.0 to .1/.2/.3) on my own website. Installed Fireboard 1.0.4 plus German translation, than upgraded to Fireboard SVN#551 by Oliver Ratzesberger (fxstein). This combination, using Default EX template (some mods for a German side), works for me, on Joomla! 1.5.3 as you can see.

If this fails on your side, cause server configuration etc., the switch to Joomla! 1.0.15 is not the best/prefered solution, but an option

The same happened, when I tried to rename the example categories. I have tried it with many different configurations and even restored twice the whole joomla installation including root folder and database from my backup. The result is always the same. As far as I could find out this is a bug with Joomla 1.5 legacy mode.

It looks to me (without any tests), that there is problem in db structure (no autoincrement or so). Please export db structure with mysqldump --no-data (you can filter out only tables with fireboard) and upload it here. We will see, if it's correct.

Hi,

I tried what mcrollo recommended and I got this, when I wanted to administrate the forum:

Fatal error: Call to undefined function: getinstance() in /var/www/web22/html/testsite/administrator/components/com_fireboard/admin.fireboard.html.php on line 107

My be it's because I overwrote with the package danialt recommended before.

But I'll follow jerry now and upload the db structure soon.

Kind regards
Martin

Hello Jerry,

I didn't realize before that I need shell access on my server to use mysqldump, as I am not a professional admin and didn't use this program before. I don't have such an access yet and I am waiting for a feedback of my host now. May be it will take some time for me to learn how to use mysqldump and I am not very much used yet to work with the shell as well. But I'll be back anyway.

Kind regards
Martin

Ok, Jerry,

this job means a lot of learning to me. Here is the file. I have just learnt that I could do the job as well with phpMyAdmin. It would be great if you can find out what goes wrong with my forum installation.

It might be interesting that I have the same problem in a Joomla 1.0 testing installation.

I am looking forward to your feedback
Martin

You wrote that you have the same problem in J! 1.0.15 and J! 1.5.x. Have you tried out different FTP client programs, cause it's a known issue that some of them do not transfer and/or overwrite files on hosts correctly? On some cirumstances.

I have been using WinSCP and (being on the road) the Joomla 1.5 component eXtplorer. May be the ftp feature of eXtplorer doesn’t work well as it is quite new. Anyway I will try filezilla which should be a good program. I’ll be back and reporting.

I have installed Joomla 1.5 and fireboard 1.04 again. And - I can create as many categories as I want!!! The reason must have been that I worked on a testing system installed in a subdomain out of a XCloner (JoomlaPlug) backup. It looks as if this backup component doesn't work properly yet.

Thanks to everybody who tried to help me
