I would also very much like to have an option to choose the JCE editor. BBCode is too simple, I am afraid.
We have another forum system (in ASP) with a tweak in the editor, so we can use a WYSIWYG editor. The users are very glad for this feature, so we are not immigrating / upgrading to FB before we have the option of JCE editor (or another editor).

If you are running an ASP based forum, you won't be switching anyway, as you have a lot more to take care of before even worrying about what forum you are running.
Anyway, I would suspect the same way hot editor was integrated in previous posts would work with the new version.
@those who want JCE integration. There is no smart way to do that. Security prevents it. If you want wysiwyg, integrating wysiwyg into the forum specific editor is as good as it will get. Also, for tables and other features seen in other wysiwygs, if they don't exist in bbcode, they won't exist in the editor. Once more bbcodes are added they can be implemented. But until the bbcode abilities of fb are expanded, they can't be implemented.
But... this is a start in the right direction, which never happened at all with JB.
@boj team... any official word on this?

It would be nice if you could choose between the "joomla boardcode", the "bb code" and some WYSIWG editors in each post that you make. With the possibility to set your preference in your profile.
That would solve the problem of having to make a choice, besides ... the people that would use your forum, surely like to have the option. We don't all like the same things, so let their be choice.

Dear danialt,
I saw that you are going to change the rich-editor of Fireboard.
Its a very good news.
I saw that you are using (I think) - HotEditor
But after going through the DEMO, I really don't like it at all.
My Suggestion: use TinyMCE with MINI Setup (no added files needed) with BBCode plugin
Example
This way you will get both the power of TinyMCE without making FB a huge, heavyweight component.
After all TinyMCE is the BEST Editor ever.
Also, we can customize the same editor with adding features like Flash, YouTube, Spell-Checker support etc. without writing a single line of code.

Has anyone made any progress with this project?
What files would I need to edit in order to reach the fireboard tags or the text field for forum posts?
It seems this implementation of TinyMCE is the 'easiest' but dismantling the Fireboard source is a bit tricky for the average layperson.

Put me down for a pound of that, with gravy on the side please . In other words, +1 on this request; heck, make it +2.
In terms of which editor... My recommendation would be to use whatever's been configured for the user, or at least for the site. In other words, if I have three editors installed and allow the user to select which one to use... why not use that selection in FB?
BTW, Fireboard is phenomenal. Great job!

I would assume that Danialt integrating hoteditor into FB and suggesting it would come out next release, would be taking it on as a project. Also him saying he would get id of BBcode, just to give him time. To me a project that makes
