Thanks Rapid,

everything works but it doesn't create any users.

All the posts belong to the correct user ids but they are all classed as visitors since no joomla account exists.

yet in SMF all the accounts exist.

this is the same problem with the phpbb2 conversion, starting to wonder if it's an issue with my joomla install.

mmmm one of the same problems I had when going directly from phpbb->FB...
So I'm not going to be much help with this one; it was solved doing the SMF->FB.
At the possiblity of causing more frustration a vBul->FB is about to be released HERE. Might be worth conv. from smf/phpbb to vBull?????

nah, I can move it to other platforms, so it's an issue with joomla as such.

will try a fresh install.

just so that I'm using the correct procedure.

1. install joomla
2. setup admin account
3. install fireboard
4. apply a clean install for fireboard
5. convert from other format using your converter of choice ?

that should import all the posts, structure and create the users in the jos_users table correct ?

Thanks

Michael.

Re:phpBB 1 Year, 5 Months ago
hey Rapid you should be a mod

Ok yAY I had a successfull conversion phpBB->SMF but now I need to know some more info:

Do I install Joomla FIRST(before F into the SAME(or new db?) db as SMF?

Once SMF is ready to convert to FB you only need to run the converter - no need to merge (install) the data into the same db
So what you're saying is i just upload the FB files and then run the convert file? BTW lol.. where is the convertor file..?

Does JoomlaBoard come with Joomla by default? If yes will I need to remove it before uploading the FB files?

Your almost there mate!
Joomla Board is an added component so it shouldn't be loaded.

So... you've got Joomla up and running your website right? Install the Fire Board component with 'Clean Data', not the example data, (option when you open run the component) then run the SMF->FireBoard converter: DOWNLOAD HERE.
Just change the parameters in the mysql.php file, upload to a temp directory and run the install.php.
You don't need to move or converge db files.

Cheers.

ooo thanks man.. hm... So i convert first, then install FB (just wondering because from phpBB->SMF it said to install SMF then run the convert file)?

OH! i don't have Joomla installed yET!! Sorry i didn't know you didn't know lol. So considering that I don't have it installed my previous question was: Do I install Joomla BEFORE FB? into the SAME db as SMF?

Unlike the PHPBB->FB convertor you do not add/merge the db's. They remain as they are.

Install Joomla (not Joomla Board) as per install instructions.
Load FB component into Joomla.
Open the Component in Joomla Admin and select the Clean Install - this will setup the db's.
Then run converter SMF->FB
