Re:phpBB 1 Year, 5 Months ago
Hi there,

I didnt read all the posts either, but nearly allmost. Maybe because of my terrible english I didnt get the right answer or I missed the right post.

I have a little Problem with the Import von phpbb to fb. I got the latest phpbb2fb.php with the fix of the Username-Problem.
The phpbb is installed in the same DB. The Fireboard is installed as componente and the DB-Tables are installes as fresh new installation. You know what I mean. The file phpbb2fb.php is correctly eddited, I think so!

Ok then: joomla is installed, fb is installed, the fb-DB-Tables ar right there, the phpbb2fb is right in place, but it didnt work.

The echo of phpbb2fb is: successful finished or something like that.

But when I look into FB, there is nearly everything, except the User. All the User are missing. What did I do wrong? Can someone help?

Thanks for any help, link or some other ideas.

Best wishes
Steven

Run the convertor and post the message you receive when it's done.

Ok then, here it is:
Importing data from phpBB2
Connecting to Database... OK
Populating Categories... OK
Populating Messages Table... OK
Populating Messages_Text Table... OK
Populating Users Table... admin: 62, root: 63, OK
Complete...

ok - its only converting 2 users (Populating Users Table... admin: 62, root: 63, OK)
I may not have an answers for you - I had these sort of problems (though others havnt) so I moved to SMF then FB.
Look at the obvious first - check your phpbb user table you copied to your Joomla db make sure its populated with more than 2 users.

Well the thing is, the two users which the phpbb2fb imports arent Users of phpbb. This are the only existing users of my new joomla-system.
It seems, that the Import from the joomla-user to fireboard works, but not the other way.

Ok then.... I tried a lot since I wrote the last post. I converted everything from phpBB to SMF. After that I did convert the DB from SMF to Fireboard.

Everything is now in the right place. But the Users arent in Joomla. At every post the right autor is written but also (Visitor). An Examle: 'steven256 (Visitor)'

I hoped, the import or the convert would import the users in the joomla-DB so they could login in Joomla. Am I wrong or did the convertprocess go wrong?

Your assumption is right - the conversion should make all users part of the Joomla system - only one login required.
The problem you've got 'steven256 (Visitor)' is one I had with the phpbb conversion but phpbb->smf->fb solved it for me. Unfortunalty I don't know why. If you're desperate try converting smf to Joomla Board then to FB.

Ok thanks for the quick answer and another workaround.

At night I dreamed of this problem! And then I had a question or an idea. VCould it be, we are talking about different things?!?

Ok I am asking to convert form an Standalone phpbb to Joomla-Fireboard. At first, is the phpBB2fb-Converter only for bridged phpbb-Systems? You know, the converter only works when phpBB is inculded by MedihsBridge or something like that.

The other workaround: from phpBB to SMF to Fireboard. I did it the same way as above. phpBB-Standalone convert in smf-Standalone convert in Fireboard-Joomla_Com. The question ist, did you mean, I should convert from phpBB to SMF which is allready included in Joomla?

I thought about it, because the way phpbb to Joomlaboard to Fireboard is like I wrote above. The Joomlaboard is allready included in Joomla.

I hope you understand what I want to say. Can you give me a hint if I was completely wrong?! Thanks for helping....

btw: I will try the phpBB2JB2FB this afternoon...

The converter is for standalone systems or bridged - it relies only on the data files in phpbb.

SMF & Joomla Board is not included in 'core' Joomla. Joomla Board is an additional component you install & SMF is standalone with an optional bridge.

From what you've written you've followed the right path in both cases. Hopefuly someone else can offer you some advice from here. But keep posting and I'll try and help.

I don't have the solution, but I have been troubleshooting with sublevel4 for some time and all of a sudden it worked out. We didn't know what solved it but it did.

What you could try is testing whether the queries in the script actually work (that is the SELECT queries ) with a litle help from phpmyadmin. Try running the SELECT query which selects the users from phpbb and see if it is selecting correctly. If so, we'd have to think some more, if not we know where the problem is
