Anyone know why the script would only import 2 users? there are over 1500 users in phpbb.

Re:phpBB 1 Year, 3 Months ago
Sorry i missed that one. I have used the script from page 6 (the second one) that says its for fancy usernames. I get the following results:

Connecting to Database... OK
Populating Categories... OK
Populating Messages Table... OK
Populating Messages_Text Table... OK
Populating Users Table... Dylan: 62, Test: 63, OK
Complete...

Those are the two users in the jos_user table already. It didn't add any of the users from the phpbb table.

Am I missing something?

Has anyone had the problem of users changing user type on conversion?

All my phpbb registered members seem to turn into admins and all my admins turn into registered members when they're converted.

Are there any quick ways to change the usetype of all joomla members at the same time?

Re:phpBB 1 Year, 3 Months ago
Hi All,
I've imported the PHPBB tables into Joomla database and get the following error:

Connecting to Database... OK
Invalid query:
ALTER TABLE `jos_fb_messages` ADD `phpbb_userid` int(10) NOT NULL default '1'
Table 'xxxxx_phpbb1.jos_fb_messages' doesn't exist

Any ideas???

Thanks!

Re:phpBB 1 Year, 3 Months ago
Hey, I'm pretty new to Joomla and Fireboard but it all seems very interesting, all complete with nice clean layouts... I have been running phpBB on my site for a few months now. It's more like a forum not a site, as it does not have a portal/frontpage; the index page is the forum.

I want to convert from phpBB to Fireboard and had these noobish questions:

1) Do I need Joomla to run Fireboard?
2) I have a lot of modifications that I have added to phpBB- will this be converted/trashed too or should I remove them all? (I'd prefer for them to be trashed)
3)If I do need Joomla to run Fireboard: After installing Joomla onto my site in the same SQL db as phpBB, do I need to bridge phpBB first or can I just continue with a Fireboard conversion?
4) I've seen some people saying Fireboard is the better gfx orientated version of JoomlaBoard. Does this mean I will need to install JoomlaBoard firsts and then Fireboard as an "elaborate skin" or is Fireboard a complete different system?

Thanks, any help is appreciated.

Hi, Tokyo.
1.
Not only do you need Joomla to run Fireboard, but Fireboard's integration with Joomla is its original reason-for-being. There are no "bridges" to maintain through various upgrades and mods. If you only want a forum and not a content management system around it, then phpbb should be fine.
2.
The script provided in this thread just grabs stuff (user's data & public messages) from the phpbb SQL tables and stuffs it into the Joomla/Fireboard SQL tables. Not everything comes across; but nothing is trashed, in the sense that the original phpbb database remains.
3.
No bridges needed. Just install Joomla, then use Joomla's installer to install the Fireboard component, and then run the script.
4.
You should not need to have Joomlaboard first.

(I am also a newbie with Fireboard, only slightly farther along than you seem to be, so if any more expert folks need to correct me please do. But the experts here have been SO helpful to me, I wanted to see if I could offload them a bit on this one.)
