ok
I appreciate anyone trying to help but what do you mean by okay? Also, can somebody please please please answer my question? It is regarding fbfiles. there is a folder by the name of fbfiles in the main images folder but I've been told this is not the one to move. The wiki instructions clearly state that there should be fbfiles within components/com_fireboard. download the patch yourself, see if you can find it

Download the full version. The instructions yo are following were for 1.0.3 and were NOT updated correctly. ALSO there is a weird inconsistency between the full version and patch files that no one has been able to identify.
Also I would advise you to check the stickies in the upgrading forums. There are no less than 7 threads there dealing with 1.0.4 and upgrade issues. Something of those deal with upgrading in general.

you mean I have been following the wrong instructions, why haven't they been removed? Could have saved me hours of frustration.
When you say download the full version, how is this going to help me? I want to upgrade from 1.0.0 to 1.0.4. Sorry if I sound frustrated, I am literally tearing my hair out here because I am trying to do something I'm getting nowhere

I have not done this in a while but I think you are able to drop the full version files RIGHT ON TOP of the existing install as there is no change made to the database. *Edit* This is from an upgrade to 1.0.3. Follow the instrcutions in the stickies for version prior to that. The information in some of the stickies should verify that so check before you run out and follow anything I tell you here.
ALL the files are in the full version. Why there is still a patch version is beyond me. It causes more problems for users that employ them instead of the full install. The WIKI was never updated probably due to the fact that the mod responsible for documentation never did much documenting.

Probably in the 1.0.3 download. I think it's the same as the WIKI.

I have got 1.0.0 beta installed on a couple of websites, can I just upload all the 1.0.4 files into the Joomla root folder and upgrade that way?

Do not think so. There are database upgrades that need to be performed.
