My problem is slightly different. I have no problem creating what I believe is a category, but as soon as I try to create a forum it deletes the category. For example: I click Forum Administration then click New.

I then have the option of choosing parent. My only option is "no parent". I name the Category "News" and fill in the description and header then click save.

I then Click new again and for parent I select "News". I enter a different name and description and header and click save.

It brings be back to the forum administration page and there is nothing. No previously created category. Nothing.

Honestly, I would suggest a fresh install.. since it sounds like a new board.. If not, I hope someone else has an answer to repair it, if it's an existing board..

I just had this problem, came on here for help.
I've solved it now - when you create your first category, and it takes you back to the FireBoard Administration panel, click on the 'published' icon - they don't automatically get published!

This fixed it for me, hope it helps.
