Sounds like you are actually trying to install the .zip file (in posts above) into Joomla as a component???

If so... this is not how you make use of this contribution.


The .zip file is a package (not to be installed into Joomla) BUT to be unzipped locally on your computer. The contents of the zip file is an admin file for FireBoard. You will take this single .php file and replace the file (of the same name) in your FireBoard package. This will require

- unzipping the file package above
- unzipping the FireBoard install package
- placing the admin file from the .zip into the FireBoard installation package (thus replacing the existing one)
- zipping the FireBoard package again
- installing into Joomla! as a component


It's been a while since I've used the hack but I believe this is the process.

awesome thank you so much. i've done correctly down to stage 3 inclusive. i've only ever had to unzip before so the program i got off the internet only allows unzipping, but ill google for a program to zip it back up and then ill re-install it.

Used this file. Now I get this error:

What version of FireBoard?
Did you use the complete Admin file from that .zip package?
Or... did you just substitute the altered code >> into your admin.fireboard.php??

Version 1.0.1 and I just overwrote the old admin.fireboard.php with the new one

Unless you have a specific reason for using 1.0.1 ???

The PATCH to admin.fireboard.php was written for FireBoard 1.0.2 (while under development).
I am unaware if this patch will work *at all* with 1.0.1

Personally, I have used the admin patch successfully with 1.0.2 SVN builds, RC's etc... on more than one site in testing.

FireBoard is being release today (2007-09-05) as version 1.0.3 (which is the 1.0.2 code with the finishing touches that BoJ have ready to release). This is a Joomla! 1.0.13 component that will work with Joomla! 1.5 in legacy mode (backward compatibility) on. Try the patch in this context. ALSO: YOU MAY WANT TO ONLY SUBSTITUTE THE LINES DESCRIBED EARLIER IN THIS POST.... AS I HAVE ATTEMPTED A COMPLETE SWAP OF THE OLD admin.fireboard.php PATCH WITH FIREBOARD 1.0.3!!!

This entry clarifies how

FireBoard 1.0.3 is vastly improved code to 1.0.1 with many new features, enhancements and security improvements. It will be supported as a stable release (which means patches, security fixes, etc.. for the future). You may want to consider this build over 1.0.1 (if this works with your site plans).
