Thanks for this great converter. I am almost all good.

I used the version phpbb2fb-822e5dd426176a82cd7677bee1f5e1d4.zip and FB 1.0.1beta.
Everything went fine in the conversion process but there is an issue with all special typo like é or ê... The categories are fine but not the subjects and the messages where each of this special typo is replace by ?.
Any idea what the pb could be and how to fix it?

It seems like you need programming ability to get a direct converter working for phpbb to fireboard, and the data in the same database as joomla.

For people new to joomla with other message boards and people using bridges, it seems like a lot of hassle. No one wants to lose valuable data collected over a considerable length of time.

I thought of converting to joomlaboard but wonder if that is utf8 compliant in joomla 1* versions - thats why Im still using a bridge and separate database, otherwise I would lose the asian characters.
The upgrade from joomla 1.12 to 1.5 still isnt working on my site so there is no guarrantee i could get my data into fireboard after going through all the trouble of messing with joomlaboard first. A direct converter would be simple.

As far as i could see joomlaboard isnt listed on the forum plugin page of joomla anymore.

Found this on another site once it didn't work here. Hope it helps.

This is what I get when I try this converter:
Importing data from phpBB2
Connecting to Database... OK
Populating Categories... OK
Populating Messages Table... OK
Populating Messages_Text Table...

I thought because it was a large database that it was processing but checking phpmyadmin I see the process completed/died. I've gone through the code I don't see the problem. Any ideas?
