There are no forums in this category! 1 Month, 4 Weeks ago
|
|
After every forum and category, FireBoard displays the following line: "There are no forums in this category!" I found this discussion www.bestofjoomla.com/component/option,co...8737/catid,73/#28737 but it is for upgrading from 1.0.
I did a clean install of 1.0.4 after a clean install of Joomla! and I cannot see any way of getting rid of the pesky statements.
Any ideas?
Thanks,
edsager

I am having the exact same problem on the americanpartyofflorida.com web site! How the heck do I get these things started?
Otherwise, things look grand

trackside,
Nice website. I am at a loss as to what to do here. This is nearly the last hurdle I have before making my site live.
Anyone with ideas on how to fix this?
Thanks,
edsager

trackside:
I looked at your web site again. The "There are no forums in this category!" messages were gone!
Dude, how did you get rid of them?
Thanks,

And before you say I'm being a smart-ass that IS what you have to do.

Yes, I was unclear as to how to do that, but with help from a buddy who is more tech savvy than me, it has been remedied. I appreciate the help these kinds of forums provide inasmuch as I am doing these web sites as a totally new project and am more or less learning as I go.
Here is one question tho, the local college offers how-to classes to do websites -- is that something I need to do, or are there better ways to learn this stuff?
Thanks again...

As stated in my first post, I did create forums and categories. So did trackside, but both of us experienced that after every forum and category, FireBoard displays: "There are no forums in this category!"
I tried deleting the forums & categories and starting over, but that did not work. I also tried a new installation of Joomla! and Fireboard and re-created the forums and categories, but the same phrase, "There are no forums in this category!" still appears.
Anyone else have any other suggestion?
trackside: can you describe what your tech-savvy friend did to quell the error?
Thanks,
edsager
P.S. Because trackside's website no longer displays the error, I would be happy to post a screen shot, if someone thinks that might help.

Normally I DO NOT recommend this but you might want to try installing sample data to see what the structure should look like.

Yes, first we created three categories -- My Candidates, My Issues and My parties, which gave us "parent categories" in the drop down menu to create forums, then we created The Candidates, the Issues, and for my party we made both APF and General Chat.
I guess I could have made them all under the My Party "parent category" but I am hoping for sub-forums that will have dedicated threads on a number of different candidates and issues.
Once you do the first one, I will warn you, it feels as tho you are pretty ignorant not to have figured it out for yourself.
I hope that works for you.
Just in passing, I made the parent cagegory and forum of the same name and they disappeared --hence the "my" versus "the" designations
Best of luck to you!
