Anybody Use Go Daddy? 3 Months, 1 Week ago
I have just purchased the premium package with go daddy. I uploaded a site from a backup that something went wrong so I deleted all the files. I was then left with a folder called "stats" inside this folder were two files, called ".statspwd" and another called "index.html". I could not delete these two files, it said permission denied. So I contacted supports and they basically said that if you did delete it it would regenerate within 24 hours because it was to do a statistics. So I'm stuck with this folder in the root directory of the domain. I am just uploading a backup from another host and I'm using Joomla cloner to restore the website on go daddy. Has anybody else come across this before? if so, is this going to affect me restoring the site?

TCF,

Why do you want to delete the stats files? Those stats are where GoDaddy stores the stats of your site. Your stats tell you how much traffic your site generates, who visits your site, where they come from, the keywords entered in search engines by your visitors to find your site, what browsers users are viewing your site with, etc. When you login to your Premium Hosting account, go to the control panel and click Stats, you get your stats. The stats for your domain are stored in the root directory of your domain. You really don't want to delete them. You don't want to wipe the root directory. All you need to do is upload your site to it. The stats files won't get in the way. They don't take up a lot of space either, so there is no point in doing so.

Thanks. The reason I queried it was because I wasn't sure whether the stats folder would interfere with installing another Joomla application if for some reason you had to delete the files. Anyway, you've put my mind at rest
